Installation of Officers and WSDA Update Salty’s West Seattle 1936 Harbor Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98126

Join us as we honor our past officers and welcome those who will serve our Society for the next year. You will then hear: Fundamental Techniques for Success with Posterior Composites with Dr. Grant Chyz. Under the current insurance environment, managing time is more important than ever for fixed fee treatment. Maintaining quality can be a challenge as treatment time is reduced. This is especially true for posterior composites. We will discuss “best practices” for predictable placement of posterior composites, including bur selection and cavity design, the management of contacts, as well as causes of tooth sensitivity and cervical margin failure. In addition, we will discuss the one step that can help make larger composites disappear, for those situations that warrant a few extra minutes of treatment time. About our Presenters ... Dr. Grant Chyz is in private practice in Seattle with an emphasis on Aesthetic, restorative and preventative dentistry. He has spoken on a variety of dental topics since 2000, at locations around the west coast, Iowa and Texas. Dr. Chyz did both his undergraduate and Dentistry studies at the University of Michigan. He has been a tripartite member for 27 years and is actively involved with several Seattle-area study clubs. In addition, he has worked in a consulting capacity with 3M ESPE, the Council for Innovative Dentistry (an advisory group to 3M ESPE), and Ribbond. Dr. Chyz is married with two children and lives in Seattle. We also welcome our colleagues from the Washington State Dental Association who will be speaking on the “state of the state” and giving an overview of organized dentistry in Washington in 2013. Sponsored by Washington Dentists’ Insurance Agency (WDIA)

Review of Facial Aesthetics: Clinical Applications of BOTOX and Dermal Fillers in the Dental Practice with Live Demonstration SeaTac Marriott 3201 S. 176th, Seattle, WA 98188

The term “cosmetic” is often attached to the word “dentistry”. The teeth are the picture and the gums, lips and face are their frame. True aesthetic dentistry must take these structures into consideration. Aesthetic based products such as BOTOX™ (Botulinum Toxin) and Juvederm® (Dermal Fillers) are being utilized by many health care professionals. These are reversible procedures and products that have been extensively studied and utilized on millions of patients. Compared to dental procedures, these products have low morbidity and mortality. The DDS or DMD’s extensive training and knowledge of the anatomy of the head and neck make them the ideal doctors to provide these treatments. This presentation will introduce and expand the dentist’s knowledge of BOTOX™ and Dermal Fillers. The dentist will be able to make an informed decision whether to incorporate these procedures in their practice. About our Presenter: Timothy Hess, DDS, MAGD, is a general dentist that graduated from the University of Washington in 1994 and practices in Auburn, WA. He is an Affiliate Instructor in Restorative Dentistry and the Director of the Tucker Institute at the University of Washington. Dr. Hess lectures and presents hands-on courses in Washington State for BOTOX™and dermal filler therapy. Dr. Hess has been published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants and Operative Dentistry. He has lectured at the American Dental Association Annual Meeting, the Academy of General Dentistry Annual Meeting, the Pacific Northwest Dental Conference and the Canadian Academy of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics. He currently lectures on implant failures due to restorative techniques and materials. He is a Member of the BC Comprehensive Dental Treatment Seminar, Academy of Richard V Tucker Study Clubs, Academy of Operative Dentistry, Pierre Fauchard Honour Society, International Team of Implantology, SKCDS Forensic Team, WSDA, ADA, AGD, DOCS Sedation, Spear Faculty Club, Treasurer for the SKCDS and is a Member to the WSDA House of Delegates.
