2012 Community Projects The “Ecology Action” team’s overall goal is to create a plan for outreach and more effective environment education within the community and groups with the goal of increased recycling in the City of Bloomington. Actions by the group include: -Develop and design a campaign plan with help of alliance partners -Develop a WIIFM for the residents through school outreach -Work with Media to get the message out to communities The “Roof Raiser” project is to create a strategic marketing plan providing the structure and focus to Habitat’s marketing efforts helping them: -Improve public awareness and recognition -Increase funds received -Increase volunteer involvement -Increase the number of families served The “Consolidators” team proposal focuses on the following area of need for Headland Headstart: -Identify content most beneficial to Head Start parents -Identify ways to re-structure “Abriendo Puertas” curriculum -Identify four “critical needs” sessions -Identifying an effective resource kit for parents -Innovative Ideas for future sessions The “iCAN” group’s project scope is to increase the aware-ness of the work of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation of more diverse potential donors by enhancing their presence on the internet, using social media, and using technology in order to grow support for the Community Foundation and its component funds. The mission of the Community Health Care Clinic is to operate a free medical clinic providing quality health care to the medically under-served population of McLean County. Team Scrub’s project is to: -Develop a Cost Benefit Analysis framework/tool for Community Health Care Clinic -Develop a qualitative framework for analysis -Identify a narrative on Community Health Care Clinic benefits bn-mclp.org

2011 Community Projects The Home Team Consulting Group created a non-technical vocational training program for residential clients who require job skill development in order to be successful candidtates for employment. The proposed training curriculum includes a soft-skills “operations” guide that provides guidance for the HSHM staff while assisting clients.

Following the closure of the Occupational Development Center in 2008, marfirst took over several of the center’s commercial cleaning clients. The MopSquad project team was asked to develop a marketing plan for marcfirst Janitorial Services aimed at helping it achieve a profit within the next year. The team recommended: 1. Establishing a target market by focusing on key business segments 2. Improving marketing activities and build on the marcfirst brand 3. Enhancing the sales process through training 4. Continuing to provide exceptional customer service 5. Leveraging industry best practices

The Open Mind Consulting (OMC) team was charged with helping support the YWCA’s ongoing efforts to eliminate racism by developing a diversity awareness campaign about the increasing racial diversity in McLean County. The proposed diversity wareness campaign, titled “I am McLean Country,” features diverse people in our community. The campaign focuses on the positives that diversity brings to McLean County, and how embracing diversity will lead to a community hat is more respectful of others, open to new and better ideas, and globally aware.

The MCLP project team worked to streamline the operational aspects of the interpreter and counseling programs for Latino people and families. The team completed policies, job description, and a data tracking tool.

2010 Community Projects The MCLP project team, The Pink Partners, focused their project efforts on determining a strategy to increase the rate of mammography screening among Hispanic women ages 40 and older residing in McLean County. The Pink Partners proposed that a targeted approach be employed through the utilization of a Hispanic Outreach Liaison Program where trusted individuals within the Hispanic community are utilized and trained to advocate the benefits of self-breast examinations (SBE), breast cancer awareness and screening mammograms. 3.0 Project Impact Overview

Boys and Girls Club requested an operational guide to document their key and critical processes. As a response, the MCLP GRT8 team developed a centralized repository for key operational information designed in a user friendly format that is based on role perspective that has consolidated multiple and confusing reference sources. Additionally, the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal will be utilizing the new club motto: Make a Difference. Live. Learn. Love in their new marketing brochure.

Team HYBRID was assigned to the Extended Day Program affiliated to Juvenile Court Services. They were charged with the task of enhancing the services and resources that EDP offers to youth in the program. In that effort, they were able to secure donated laptop computers for the program. They continue to plan the Golf Outing fundraiser for the program, have provided EDP with a calendar of community events, and through their networking efforts have the EDP program in a position to become the pilot site for a youth job training program.

Team J’s project created a Continuity of Operations plan (COOP) for Mid Central Community Action (MCCA), a not for profit organization based in McLean County whoses overall goal is to help individuals and families reach self sufficiency. The COOP would enable MCCA to continue operation of essential functions during a wide range of potential emergencies.
