Welcome to Hamilton BMX and the 2022 BMXNZ National Championships. We are so glad to be able to host you all in our 42nd year as a BMX Club in NZ. Our last major event was in 2007 so it is great to have you back.
What a trying time we are having at the moment. I am so amazed at how well the BMX community has adapted to this disruption and how our clubs and families have accepted the changes, including the frustrating restrictions under which we will deliver this National Champs. The weekend can only ever be a shadow of the event it could have been in less restricted times but I know that the racing will still be amazing and intense. Good luck to all you riders.
A huge thanks to our club members, families and supporters who have spent so much time preparing for this event. Missing out on club nights when we ripped up the asphalt, riding lime corners for nearly a year, test riding new track layouts, dealing with dusty, crumbly, bumpy, sloppy and muddy. We have had diggers stuck in corners, trucks in mud up to their axles, sink holes under asphalt, lime that turned to slop. We had lockdown fairies that limed whole straights by themselves, Grandads delivering tractors, kids planting shrubs, and so much help. The best part is the kids who keep riding regardless with a massive smile on their face every club night.
Our two committees – the club committee and the nationals subcommittee have put in a huge amount of work to get here. Made harder by these recent, almost daily, changes –planning was tough. Both committees did a stellar job under trying conditions at times. Thank you all. Particularly to those of you that have chosen this event as your swansong before moving out of BMX or stepping back from club activities.
We have had huge support from our sponsors, funders and those who have donated time, equipment and expertise. You will see the names and businesses of many of them in this program and around our track. You are very important to our club and we are so disappointed to be unable to host you all at the event due to the current restrictions.
Finally, thanks to all of the riders and supporters that have been able to make it to HNBMX this weekend and to those riders and supporters that cannot be trackside. It is important that we make this the best event that we can. Race hard, race fair and make your BMX community proud!

This plan notes the direction of movement for the practice sessions for ALL bubbles.
Bubbles and locations will be used with the first session will be Bubble A and C. Riders will enter staging from the two opposite sides & then will be staged in to gates to ride the track. Each full gate will be staged as 8 riders from one side, then the other, repeating. Riders will run the full track, then returning to staging via the side you stared from, via the arrows marked on the map.
The second session will arrive just before their session & fill Bubbles B & D. Once the first session is complete, the next session will roll into staging & repeat the process.
The third and fourth sessions will repeat as per the above. The Mighty Eleven Racing will be staged from their pits directly to the gate, when required.
A quick warmup session with gates will begin each session, with two bubbles running in the same format as the Friday at a time for 30mins. Two sessions will ride the track for a total of 1hr prior to racing.
Racing will be four motos before finals and finishing with a quick onsite prizegiving.
