TECHNOLOGIES SONIC WELDING TECHNIQUE

Ultrasonic welding is an industrial technology which uses ultrasonic energy at high frequencies to generate heat within the fibers at the point of the joint site, causing polymers to join and form a bond. In ultrasonic welding, there are neither stitch holes nor penetration into the fabric. This makes the product aesthetically appealing, durable over time, abrasion resistant and water-tight. Ultrasonic welding requires also a much smaller amount of materials during production and so a sensitive reduction in waste.

ECO-FRIENDLY RECYCLED DOWN Down and feathers extracted from postconsumer goods (sleeping bags, bedding products, etc.) are recycled through a cleaning and sterilisation process to be reused as filling material for clothing.

RECYCLED ZIPPER Zippers are made from recycled materials, including PET bottles.

RECYCLED POLYESTER Polyester using PET as raw material. This is the same material used to make clear plastic water bottles, so recycling it to create the fabric prevents it from going to landfill. The steps involved in the production process are as follows: •

Collected PET bottles are sterilized, dried and crushed into small chips.

The chips are heated and passed through a spinneret to a form string of yarn.

•

This yarn is wound up in spools.

•

The fibre is then passed through a crimping machine to produce a fluffy, wool-like texture.

•

The yarn is then baled, dyed, and knitted in polyester fabric.

INNOVATION

Litebase Tech is an innovative technology designed by Vibram with the aim of drastically reducing the weight of the rubber sole while leaving the performance features of a traditional Vibram sole intact.

Vibram Lite Base Tech replaces the traditional rubber bottom. The technology consists of a unique vulcanisation process which allows a slim layer of rubberised fabric to be joined to the rubber inserts that are feature of the tread design.

Products designed with GORE-TEX laminates are waterproof in time and with optimal breathability. The GORE-TEX membrane is the core of all GORE-TEX products. Thanks to its microporous structure it has some surprising features.

When you are active your skin eliminates excess heat through transpiration. To avoid an unpleasant accumulation of sweat, the GORE-TEX membrane allows the evaporating moisture to exit through the fabric. BREATHABLE/WATERPROOF The GORE-TEX membrane is an extremely thin layer of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). It numbers over 1.4 billion pores per cm2. The pores in fact determine the properties of GORE-TEX®materials - waterproofing and breathability.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? “Breathability” is one of the most misunderstood concepts in outdoor products manufacture. It is not, as many believe, the capacity of a fabric to allow air through, but instead refers to its capacity to release perspiration in the form of water vapour. Our standards require our fabrics to breathe during intensive physical exercise in order to allow the perspiration to evaporate easily.

Footwear designed with the GORE-TEX product technology can easily be identified thanks to the GORE-TEX brand label attached to the outside. The laminate for GORE-TEX footwear is inserted during construction of the shoe, in its interior, like a lining. Irrespective of the weather conditions GORE-TEX footwear keeps feet dry, ensuring optimal climatic comfort. DAS - DOLOMITE ANATOMIC SYSTEM

DAS is the construction system used to produce most of the models in the Dolomite collection. Its aim is to ensure that the internal shape of the footwear follows the anatomy of the foot itself as closely as possible, and to comply with the natural biomechanics of the foot. By keeping the impact of footstrike to a minimum and facilitating natural movements, extraordinary levels of comfort and safety can be achieved.

MOULDED MIDSOLE The midsoles are moulded to faithfully reproduce the anatomy of the last. In this way, firm contact is ensured between the foot and the ground, creating smooth rolling and stable, safe support.

SYNERGIC INSOLE The insole comprises two co-moulded parts that work together. The upper part in moulded EVA foam absorbs physical stresses. The lower part, in materials with varying degrees of rigidity, serves to prevent twisting, increase stability and control flexing.
