Census Bureau to hire 500,000 workers across the country THE U.S. Census Bureau has launched a national recruitment effort to hire approximately 500,000 temporary workers to help conduct the 2020 Census. Nearly 4,000 local recruiting events are scheduled to take place this week in communities across the nation. “We need people to apply now so they can be considered for part-time census taker positions next spring,” said Timothy Olson, Census Bureau associate director for Field Operations. “Recent high school graduates, veterans, retirees, military spouses, seasonal workers and applicants who are bilingual are highly encouraged to apply. It’s important we hire people in every community in order to have a complete and accurate census.” During a news conference at its National Processing Center Paper Data Capture Center – West in Phoenix, the Census Bureau provided an update on the status of 2020 Census operations and job opportunities available in Arizona and across the country. PHILIPPINE pop music star Carol Banawa, who is a registered nurse in the US, recently performed in Los Angeles with American pop-rock singer/ songwriter Stephen Speaks and fellow Filipino American YouTube sensation Shane Ericks. Banawa left the Philippine music scene in 2003 to attend to the treatment of her sick father in the US. She is now married and has two children. She and her family lives in Washington D.C. Weekend Balita learned that there was no formal approval process to get the City Hall lights on. But the fi nal decision to light or not light is in the hands of the mayor --- which at this point in time is Mayor Eric Garcetti. In 2018, the glow of the City Hall lights were used to express solidarity with the people of Paris, France and most recently, to celebrate the LGBT Heritage Month. “To see our colors here on City Hall, I feel proud to be a Pinoy.
