MANILA (Mabuhay) — The Philippines' current COVID-19 positivity ratio or the number of individuals who turned out positive for the virus out of all those who took the test supports that the country is doing good in flattening the curve, according to a medical expert on Friday. "Currently we are hovering around 7%. Ano ba ang sinasabi ni WHO? Ang magandang standard o magandang benchmark is about 10%," Dr. Anna Lim, an infectious disease expert, said in a virtual forum. Filipino Americans throw support to ABS-CBN By ABNER GALINO SEVERAL Filipino American personalities and organizations recently held a virtual protest to express their support for the embattled Philippine media network ABS-CBN. In California, the virtual demonstration to protest the closure of ABS-CBN was organized by the Malaya Movement, an advocacy group for press freedom and human rights. Shortly after the virtual protest GABRIELA-Los Angeles chapter issued the following statement: “As the Los Angeles chapter of GABRIELA, in the middle of a media hub our-
selves, we condemn the orchestrated decision to shut down ABS-CBN.” “We are in solidarit y with the masses of Filipinos across the world that are fighting to defend press freedom and democracy in the Philippines.” “The last time ABS-CBN was off the air was September 21, 1972 after Ferdinand Marcos declared nationwide Martial Law.
