Hundreds of Wells Fargo workers in Manila to lose jobs amid revamp MANILA, Philippines — Wells Fargo & Co. will lay off hundreds of employees in Manila — particularly those who perform technology roles — as part of the company’s plan to move most of their technology employees to locations with high concentration of workers with such positions. In an emailed statement Friday, Wells Fargo spokesman Peter Gilchrist said the vast majority of Manila-based roles will be moved to India, where they will be filled by locally-based talent. HUNDREDS

Goodbye, John, Keri and Alyssa MORE than a thousand people came and celebrated the lives of John (better known to peers as Alto), Keri and Alyssa --- who was a basketball teammate of also deceased Gigi Bryant. NBA legend Kobe Bryant and her daughter Gigi were also given tribute at the Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Monday, February 10. John “Alto” Altobelli, who was Alyssa’s dad, was an outstanding baseball coach who led the Orange Coast College to four state championships. He won 700 games and had been named National Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association. GOODBYE
Herb Wesson meets Fil-Ams in Carson
Cit y of Los A ngeles Councilman Herb Wesson met recently with Filipino American community members and political leaders at the Pinoy Food Republic Restaurant. Wesson, who is running to become one of the five supervisors of the Los Angeles County, expressed his gratitude for those who came and expressed their support for his candidacy. According to the former President of the LA City
“Certainly it is always a concern if people come together…We have to have risk management procedures associated with that,” said WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus during a press briefing posted online. “You cannot shut down the world either. Normal activity must go on,” he added in response to questions about “super-spreaders” or individuals who are able to transmit disease at a much higher rate than the world average.

Wesson is running on a platform of improved health care services and safer neighborhoods.
