Champion’s Place Architecture Undergraduate Studio III

Champion’s Place 9440 Nesbit Ferry Road, Alpheretta, GA Instructor: Michelle Rinehart Fall 2016

The Champion’s Place project was a partnership with the Champion’s Community Foundation to design the first of its kind independent living center for young adults living with physical disabilities. Using universal design principals and modern technologies, Champion’s Place provides the residents with a sense of independence and uniqueness by providing them with the option of customizable settings within the individual apartments, but leaving the option for communal gatherings in the large common areas both inside and outside of the building.

Cabbagetown House & Bar Architecture Undergraduate Studio II

Cabbagetown House & Bar Carroll Street, Cabbagetown, Atlanta Instructor: Harris Dimitropoulos Fall 2015

The Cabbagetown project was to design a combination residential home and business similar to other buildings on the street corner. The building was designed to have a similar appearance to the buildings occupying the neighborhood. Rather than having the entrance to the residential portion of the building be on the ground floor along with the bar, elevating and seperating the two helped to differentiate the public and private spheres of the residence from the business.

Atlanta Bath House Architecture Undergraduate Studio II

Atlanta Bath House Courtland Street and Edgewood Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia Instructor: Michelle Rinehart Spring 2016

The Bath House project was born from a semesterlong investigation into the crafting operation of carving. Using what we learned through analysis and exploration or the operation, as well as preliminary precedent research, the Atlanta Bath House was designed with the idea of using the operation to augment sensory experiences and frame specific views for the patrons.

Chicago ULI Hines District Architecture Undergraduate Studio III

Chicago ULI Hines District Several Lots, perimeterd by Kennedy Expressway, West Coutland Street, North Kingsbury Street, and West North Avenue, Chicago, Illinois Instructor: Sabir Khan Spring 2017

Based off of the annual ULI Hines Student Competition, the goals of the project were to design an old brownfield site on the Chicago riverbank into a new mixed-use neighborhood. With this goal in mind, a redevelopment strategy was formed borrowing from the principles of Form-Based Code and urban planning to redesign the district into a multi-use, mixed income housing and commercial neighborhood.

The following are some examples of the code book which was created for this project. The goals of the code book were to explain the purposes of our re-development strategy, give prior examples of the types of buildings we were proposing, give examples of the new throughways we were introdicuing, and codification of several aspects of the many districts that we felt were crucial to the purpose of our re-development.
