Global Solutions Tech Square, Atlanta, GA Instructor: John Peponis Group Project with: Rachael Carstens, Kat Drummonds, Maggie Garratt Spring 2018

Global Solutions was a joint disciplinary project between Architecture and Industrial Design students. In partnership with the NCR Corporation, the goal of the project was to design a new future-thinking retail center that would utilize future technologies to aid physical businesses. The design goals of Global Solutions was to create a combination maker-retail space, where start-up companies would have access to necessary equipment to create, test, and gather feedback from consumers on their products made and sold within the building.

Indian Creek Elementary 724 N Indian Creek Drive, Clarkston, GA Instructor: Jennifer Pindyck Fall 2017

The Indian Creek Elementary project was to create a brand new elementary school that would service the Clarkston community. Clarkston is known for having a very high refugee population, with the current Elementary school servicing 1,200 concurrent students that speak a total of 45 different languages. With this in mind, the design for the school was to create a collection of community-centric spaces for both the student body and the greater Clarkston community.

Champion’s Place 9440 Nesbit Ferry Road, Alpheretta, GA Instructor: Michelle Rinehart Fall 2016

The Champion’s Place project was a partnership with the Champion’s Community Foundation to design the first of its kind independent living center for young adults living with physical disabilities. Using universal design principals and modern technologies, Champion’s Place provides the residents with a sense of independence and uniqueness by providing them with the option of customizable settings within the individual apartments, but leaving the option for communal gatherings in the large common areas both inside and outside of the building.

Carroll St. SE

The Cabbagetown project was to design a combination residential home and business similar to other buildings on the street corner. The building was designed to respond to the existing context of the neighborhood of Cabbagetown. Rather than having the entrance to the residential portion of the building be on the ground floor along with the bar, elevating and seperating the two helped to differentiate the public and private spheres of the residence from the business.

Atlanta Bath House Courtland Street and Edgewood Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia Instructor: Michelle Rinehart Spring 2016

Courtland St NE

The Bath House project was born from a semesterlong investigation into the crafting operation of carving. Using what we learned through analysis and exploration or the operation, as well as preliminary precedent research, the Atlanta Bath House was designed with the idea of using the operation to augment sensory experiences and frame specific views for the patrons.
