Small Class Sizes & Flexible Schedules

Our school focuses on small class sizes, with an average of just 12 students. This allows our dedicated teachers to provide personalized attention and support. They take the time to understand each student’s learning style, strengths, and weaknesses. By adapting our teaching methods to meet individual needs, we create a more effective learning experience and maximize valuable learning time. We create efficiencies with our students’ time so that they have more time outside of school to do what they love. Additionally, for students involved in extracurricular activities, we offer flexible schedules that combine in-person and online learning, ensuring that academics remain a top priority.

We Are: Personalized

We meet students where they are and help them achieve their personalized goals.

Curriculum:

At Blyth Academy, our Elementary & Middle School programs aim to provide a well-rounded education that aligns with the curriculum set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education. We prepare students both academically and emotionally for high school. Our model consistently enhances academic success through continuous feedback and personalized learning, which can be challenging to achieve in larger classrooms.

Pre-Launch Program

Ease Your Child’s Transition to High School

Available at select campuses, the Pre-Launch program allows middle schoolers to preview high school-level courses before entering high school. This invaluable opportunity not only empowers students with a smooth transition to Grade 9 but also equips them with an advantageous head start over their peers, preparing them for the upcoming challenges and academic rigor of high school coursework.

It is not just my son’s marks that have changed — his confidence in his ability to learn, his engagement with other students and the teachers have made a difference in his overall attitude toward school.

- Jill, Parent of Grade 8 Student

High School

We offer two proprietary programs tailored to students at different stages of their education:

The LaunchPad Program (Grades 9-10)

University Prep Program (Grades 11-12)

Students Follow a Four-Term Schedule

Our high school students follow a four-term schedule where they deeply engage with two subjects per term. This approach allows them to concentrate fully on these two subjects, rather than juggling four subjects per semester. This promotes seamless subsequent learning providing a smooth flow of knowledge in core courses. This structure also gives students the ability to join us at four entry points during the school year.

LaunchPad Program

This is a year-long program that aims to improve students’ learning and study skills through practical daily activities, covering topics like financial literacy, community engagement, and outdoor education. By participating in these activities, students not only acquire valuable practical skills but also develop the ability to think independently, analytically, and critically. An additional benefit of the program is that upon completing Grade 10, students earn two extra credits. These extra credits provide flexibility and open up new opportunities for exploration during their senior high school years.

My experience with the teachers is excellent. I really feel that they want me to succeed and I have their support. I feel like I am able to connect with their teaching style because they know me and they know how I learn.

University Prep Program

The program’s primary focus is to prepare students for post-secondary education. During this time, students receive increased attention on skills such as critical thinking, interpreting information, independent learning, and active participation in a small group setting.

The program’s success is evident: 90% of students who complete it receive first-choice university acceptance, and 85% receive full or partial entrance scholarships.

Smaller class sizes allow teachers to have a more 1 on 1 teaching style and classes feel more like a discussion rather than a lecture. The less intimidating atmosphere makes approaching teachers easy for extra help or general questions.

I was able to take classes a grade ahead and enrol part-time in university courses while in Grade 11. I now serve as the marketing director for one of Queen’s premier investment clubs and as the Speaker of the Assembly for the commerce student government at the Queen’s Commerce Society.”
