Dear Fellow Cattle Enthusiasts,
What an incredible time to be in the cattle business! The current cattle market conditions make the outlook for the beef industry more exciting than ever. First and foremost, thank you for your continued support and business over the years. Your trust has helped us achieve several long-held dreams, and we’re truly grateful. It’s a great privilege to present this offering of bulls in our inaugural Black Friday Bull Sale a concept that’s been years in the making. While this isn’t a large group, it’s an exceptionally deep and high-quality set that we’re proud to stand behind. For over 15 years, our standard has remained simple: “If I wouldn’t use them on my own cows, I cut ’em.” This set is no exception. These bulls are built from the ground up to perform sturdy, consistent, and proven in their gains. Whether you’re a commercial cattleman or a seedstock producer, we’re confident you’ll find bulls that fit your program and add value to your herd. We welcome your questions and invite you to join us on sale day for lunch and a firsthand look at the offering. If you can’t attend the sale, please contact us to arrange a visit beforehand.
Thank you again for your ongoing support and consideration. We couldn’t do this without you.
Sincerely,
Allen Heishman II

$API Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold on a grid (carcass grade and yield).
$TI Evaluates sires for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold on a grid (grade and yield).
$GAIN A prediction designed to identify animals that are more profitable in the feedlot by converting feed into weight. $Gain is a combination of DMI and ADG, where ADG is weighted by the value of a pound of gain, and DMI is negatively weighted by the cost of a pound of dry matter. $Gain is expressed as the dollar difference per head per day during the post-weaning period.
Total Herd Enrollment (THE): We are proud participants of the American Simmental Association’s Total Herd Enrollment (THE) program. THE enhances the impact and utility of our data submitted for genetic evaluation, which in turn improves the EPD accuracy across our whole operation. By submitting data on our dams and entire calf crops, more accurate genetic predictions are received by us and our customers.
Calf Crop Genomics (CCG): We are proud participants of the American Simmental Association’s Calf Crop Genomics (CCG) program. By genotyping our entire calf crop, we’re able to use genomically enhanced EPD in our selection decisions and reduce selection bias, which adds value to our customers’ decisions. As an added bonus, by participating in CCG means every bull in this offering has been parentage tested.

How Does a Multi-Breed Genetic Evaluation Benefit Our Customers?
International Genetic Solutions (IGS) is an unprecedented collaboration among progressive breed associations that are committed to enhancing commercial profitability. As members of the founding partner, the American Simmental Association, data from our animals flows through the world’s largest genetic evaluation of beef cattle.
The EPD calculation system employed by IGS has improved the genetic evaluation system by accurately accounting for heterosis and breed differences. This allows commercial producers to directly compare the genetic merit of animals regardless of breed composition when their EPD come from IGS. With the IGS genetic evaluation providing predictive EPD, precise EPD accuracies, better use of genomics, and accurate beef cattle selection tools, we’re glad our customers can benefit too.
How Does a Genomic Test Benefit Our Customers?
More Accurate EPD
Genomic testing is a way to add information to what is known about an animal’s genetic potential even before they have progeny of their own. The commitment to add a genomic test to the genetic predictions enables our customers to have higher-accuracy EPD when they make their buying decisions. One way to think of the information gained is by asking how many progeny would this animal need to provide a similar increase in the accuracy of the EPD for that trait. These are referred to as progeny equivalents. Below is a table of current progeny equivalents for various traits. Adding a genomic test is like adding over 25 calving ease records or 22 birth weights on progeny to the EPD. As you can see, for some of these traits, a genomically enhanced EPD is like knowing an entire calf crop of information for bulls or a lifetime of calves for females.
Confidence in the Pedigree
Each genomic test includes parentage markers to both confirm the animal’s own pedigree (if his parents’ DNA markers are available) and for future parent verification of their own calves. By testing the DNA for parentage, you can be sure the pedigree is correct.
