A season for the record books

BY WHIT MILLER As the spring sports season comes to an end, Granville's top athletes capped off the season with a multitude of wins. Many of these wins were led by seniors before they graduate and begin a new chapter.

Baseball The baseball team had another very strong year as they went 17-4 in the regular season. The team is led by a strong senior class highlighted by Will Skerbetz and John Bernaur, who have helped the team earn big wins against rivals throughout the season. The Aces loos to make another strong postseason push as they have their eyes set on a deep run.

Softball The softball team posted an impressive 9-5 regular season record several big LCL wins. The team is led by a strong senior class centered around Shelby Armstrong, Sarah Lodge, Addy Hampton and Zoe Firchau. The team made the playoffs, but eventually fell after a strong run to the two seeded Bloom Carroll in the District Semi-Final. the regular season with big wins over schools such as Licking Valley (twice) and Wooster. The team is led by sophomores Matt and Mike Chaykowski, as well as freshman Maxton Messner who respectively contribute in all aspects of the game. The boys team earned the six seed in their tournament bracket and beat Big Walnut 17-6 before falling to Columbus Academy to cap off a great season.

Girls Lacrosse The girls lacrosse team went 7-10-1 in the regular season. The girls had a big win over Columbus Academy and a lot of close games over the course of the season. They played Big Walnut in the first round of the playoffs and earned a big 16-8 win. The team is led by a strong mixture of players including senior goalie Hannah Rockwell, junior Clare Hotchkiss, and sophomore Amelia Sarap.

Track & Field The track & field team who is known for their dominance and success over the years, had another very impressive season. The team is led by several seniors including Keshawn Bonner, Jenna Unkefer, Addison Lilly and Theron Rogerson. The team swept the LCL championship meet by winning several events. The team continued their district success with records being broken by both the boys and girls squads.

Boys Tennis The high school tennis team had another good season with several wins and high placements at tournaments. The team was led by a strong senior class headed by Ben Thompson, Noah Charlton and Campbell Lucas-Miller.
