BIOGRAPHY OF THE LATE
JOHNOSEIADU
EARLY LIFE
The late John Osei Adu whose mortal remains lie before us today was born on July 12,1947, in Akyem Kwabeng in the Eastern region of Ghana, to Opanin Kwadwo Osei affectionately known as Agya Mosi and Obaapanin Comfort Adwoa Afi of Akyem Kwabeng, both of blessed memory. He was the first of the three children born to the couple.
John began his formal education at the Akyem Kwabeng Presbyterian School, where he quickly demonstrated academic excellence. His brilliance saw him promoted from Class 2 straight to Class 4, earning admiration from both his teachers and peers.
At Standard 2, he sat for the Common Entrance Examination and gained admission to Krobo Odumasi Presbyterian School, now Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School, Legon (PRESECLegon), where he chose to study accountancy, driven by his passion for mathematics and working with figures.
FOR
LATE: MR. JOHN OSEI ADU
P.H: 494 P.H: 518
1. Where is Jesus, my beloved?
Where is my best friend who loves?
My beloved, I long for You, I shall run and search for You.
2. My heart loves and seeks for Jesus, Come my Lord and cleanse my sin.
Where is Jesus, whom I love much?
Always I shall search for Him.
3. Here I cry much in my struggles,
Where would I find Jesus Christ?
I shall seek Him, till I find Him, I shall have joy in His sight.
4. O that I have wings to fly now,
I need wings to fly to Christ.
For I seek to be with Jesus,
My heart longs for Him alone.
1. Hold Thou my hands, dear Jesus,
Be with me always, throughout, Depart not, Lord.
This life I cannot travel, Fearful it is. Lead Thou me on.
If You will not go with me, I'll neither go.
2. My faint heart strengthen, Jesus,
This heart make still. Grant me abiding peace, God, In You abide.
Peace from You Lord.
When raging storms are o'er me,
Be near me, Lord.
3. When doubts and fears assail me, In You I trust.
In joy and in all sorrow, Help me, O God.
You are my Rock and Shield, Lord,
Hold Thou my feeble hands, Lord,
And guide me through life, Jesus,
To Home bring me. Help me, dear Lord.

Hymns
P.H: 789 P.H: 791
1. On the Cross Christ Jesus died,
Our sin He nailed to the Cross. Therefore, when His sheep shall die, They are known to be asleep.
2. They depart like sinful men, Not afraid of God the Judge. They are warriors, going Home,
3. No condemnation waits them, Battle over, must return.
They are home with Christ, their Lord.
They have come to Rest in Him,
They shall rise with Jesus Christ.
4. On death's bed they shall all lay,
They all sleep sound as a child, Like those resting in their sleep.
Nothing troubles them in death.
1. I am a sojourner here, A stranger I'm on earth.
My Home is far from this world
My Home is not of this earth.
With pain and hardship and toil,
I travel here on this earth.
Heaven where God Himself dwells,
There is the Home for me.
2. From childhood I have struggled,
And still wrestle with life.
Distress and troubles and sin,
The battle has been fierce. What I seek, I cannot get, My heart is not in this world.
I must be ready to leave, I must not stay here long.
Upon completing secondary school, John worked as an Accounts Clerk with the former Black Star Shipping Line in Tema. However, he aspired to become a Chartered Accountant and therefore decided to further his education in the United Kingdom (UK).
In October 1971 he left the shores of Ghana to the United Kingdom. With the support of Nana Marfo, the then Sanaahene of Asamankese, a loyal and trusted family friend, and closest friends Mr. Kwasi Nyarko, Mr. Victor Amaning and Mr. Philip Gyasi who all were residing in UK.
He enrolled at Southwest London College in Wandsworth, where he studied Accountancy while working part-time to fund his education and living expenses. His perseverance paid off when he passed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) final exams and became a Chartered Accountant in just two years.
He further enhanced his qualifications with additional professional training, including membership of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). John began his professional accountancy career in the UK with the Greater London Council (GLC) and later moved to the Ealing Council, where he continued his work in public service and financial management.
He also served as an Auditor in various local councils, ultimately retiring from Kingston Council, Sutton in 2007

FAMILY AND MARITAL LIFE
In 1968, Mr. Adu married Margaret Aniwaa Darko and their union was blessed with 4 children, Joyce, Richard, Patrick and John.
He also married the late Augustina Obeng Kwarko and they were blessed with 3 children, Mercy, Opoku and Belinda.
Though both marriages face challenges and eventually ended, John continued to support and care for his children with love and commitment.
Upon his retirement and return to Ghana in 2008, he later married Comfort Animwaa who survives him.
SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY LIFE
John was an active member of the Ghanaian community in the UK and served as a founding member and treasurer of both the Kwabeng Welfare Association and Abukwa Susubiribi Association. Through these roles, he helped preserve cultural ties and provided social support to many Ghanaians abroad.
Despite living overseas, John never forgot his roots. He remained closely connected to his family in Ghana, generously supporting their education and general welfare.
His generous spirit touched many, and his wisdom and guidance were cherished by all who knew him. A devout Christian, he was a staunch Presbyterian and a dedicated member of the Men’s Ministry at the Sakaman Congregation in Accra, where he played a significant role in church activities.
FINAL DAYS AND LEGACY
After a brief illness, John was admitted to the Ridge Hospital in Accra. Sadly, on March 5, 2025, he was called to eternal rest. He is survived by his beloved wife Comfort Animwaa and his seven children.
John Osei Adu will always be remembered for his integrity, humility, generosity, and unwavering faith in God. His legacy lives on through his children, extended family, and all who were fortunate to know him.
CHILDRENTRIBUTE
TO THE LATE JOHN OSEI ADU
A TRIBUTE TO OUR FATHER
On behalf of myself and my three brothers, I honour and remember our father with respect, sincerity, and reflection.
In our early years, life demanded a great deal of both our parents. While our father studied full-time to become a chartered accountant, our mother worked tirelessly to support the family
It was a time of sacrifice and determination, and we all remember the moment he qualified as a chartered accountant as a proud and defining milestone in our family’s journey.
Our father was a man of many interests and a strong presence. He loved the spectacle of wrestling, followed football scores faithfully, and was always ready with a joke or a story
His voice often filled the house with song, and he loved setting us maths challenges, his way of keeping us thinking and learning.
We also remember the joy and color of Ghanaian society functions. These were special occasions, moments when our family came together in celebration and tradition. Our father loved dressing up for those events, and he took great pride in being part of that community.
We recall watching him give speeches at those functions, carrying himself with charisma and confidence, and we saw a side of him that thrived in the spotlight and connection with others.
Today, as we reflect on his life, we do so with a spirit of gratitude and quiet recognition. We are thankful for the joyful times, for the lessons he shared, and for the foundations he helped to lay
Each of us — in law and social policy, in business and management, in art and design, and in medicine — has gone on to build a meaningful and recognised life, carrying forward something of his determination and ambition.
We honor our father today not only for what he did, but for who he was — a man of pride, presence, and perseverance. We wish him peace now, and rest. May his soul find comfort and freedom beyond this life.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
CHILDREN TRIBUTE TO THE
LATE JOHN OSEI ADU
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing” 2 Tim. 4:7-8
Ÿ
Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man, Mr. John Osei Adu who went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. We wish you had stayed with us longer, but we take consolation in the fact that you are going to be with your maker. . But we believe you are in a better place and only resting in the Lord. We know we cannot have long discussions on phone anymore, but your presence can always be felt.
Dad, as we affectionately called him, lived a life filled with service, dedication, and unwavering love for family members and anyone who came into contact with him. He was so generous that he would willingly offer what he has even when he had a dire need for it if his action would put joy to others.
Ÿ
Dad, your demise is very painful. We did not get the chanc say goodbye properly and also thank y being an exceptional father, friend and mentor.
Ÿ
Ÿ Dad, no words can express how much you meant to us. We are grateful for what you have done for us. You gave us good ation and taught us to be upright and truthful members of society. Dad your death has ed a big vacuum.
Words on the lips of your family, friends and we the children herein gathered are that a mighty man has been lost. You devoted yourself to the service of God and humankind. Dad was a traditional man and very respected in the society
Dad has a heart of giving and took care of everyone. He was very principled and taught us to be humble and respectful to everyone. His constant message on forgiveness resonates with us.
Dad you were someone to look up to, follow, and admire. We pride ourselves and brag about having you as our dad.
Not only us but your kinsmen and colleagues found it appropriate to discuss issues of grave concern with you.
Your welcoming smile attracted a lot of people to you and so you gained so much respect among your contemporaries. You became a learning point for many people.
Our Dad was a strict disciplinarian but always did everything with deep love. He will not allow us to misbehave but guided us towards the right path. His great ability to settle disputes among us and advise us make us miss him the more.
He always calls to check on us even in his retirement age emphasizing the message of forgiveness and living peacefully with everyone.
Dad, we will miss your long phone calls and discussion on politics.
We are hopeful that we are going to meet again when Christ appears in His glory. Dad, we did not know you will go soon but God knows best. We are dearly going to miss you. Our hearts bleed.
TRIBUTE BY
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF GHANA RAMSEYER CONGREGATION to JOHN OSEI ADU
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”— John 11:25–26
We are reminded through these words of Jesus that death is not the end for those who believe in Him. It is with this hope that we, the Ramseyer Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, pay tribute to our beloved brother, Mr. John Adu.
Mr. Adu, whom we mourn today, joined the Ramseyer Congregation, he became an active and visible part of our church family
He was a committed member of the Men’s Fellowship, participating in its meetings and activities with sincerity and humility. His respectful demeanor, consistency, and willingness to serve made him a respected brother in Christ until he became an invalid and could not attend church services.
Though our hearts grieve his passing, we are not without hope.
As the Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 4:13–15: Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him…”
We are confident that Mr John Adu has entered into the eternal rest of our Lord. We thank God for his life.
May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may the Lord comfort his family and all who mourn his loss.
“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord…they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” –
Revelation 14:13

Until we meet again! A light from our lives has gone. A voice we loved is still. A place is vacant within our hearts which can never be filled. We hold you close within our hearts, and there you remain. We will forever salute you; you were all we ever needed, and God gave us the best Father-in-law in the world.
So, rest in perfect peace, our sweet father-in-law and thank you for all you've done. We pray that our heavenly father will crown your efforts in everything you did for us and in the lives of the people you touched.
From your sons-in-law Lawrence and Justice; and your daughter-in-law, Elizabeth.

GRANDCHILDREN TRIBUTE TO A
TREASURED GRANDPA
We, your grandchildren, want to say thank you. Thank you for the life you lived and the path you walked that has helped shape who we are today. Even though we are still young, we understand that the stories, choices, and sacrifices of those who came before us are part of what makes our family strong.
We’ve learned about your journey, how you worked hard to become a chartered accountant, how you loved to dress up for special occasions, tell jokes, sing, and challenge your children with maths questions.
We know how important family, tradition, and education were to you. These values continue to live on in us, in how we are being raised, in what we are learning, and in the dreams, we’re starting to dream for ourselves.
These stories help us think of you with warmth, with pride, and with a sense of fun.
Rest well, Grandpa. You will always be remembered.
GRANDCHILDREN TRIBUTE TRIBUTE BY IN-LAWS TO A TREASURED GRANDPA
BY KIRK BOATENG AND SIBLINGS, EMMANUELA ADU AND SIBLINGS AND SIMEON DANKWAH AND SIBLINGS
Our eyes are heavy with tears, and we find it extremely difficult to read this tribute. The love and affection shown by our grandpa is impossible to replace. On March 5, 2025, we lost our beloved grandpa. Grandpa, how can we put all our feelings into a speech, It's impossible.
From our childhood you stayed connected with us until you left us. Our grandpa was truly a remarkable man, strong minded, smart, funny, and most importantly, loving. He is the world’s sweetest grandpa anyone could ever have.
Grandpa, you did all that a caring grandpa would do for his grandchildren and more. Grandpa, your sudden demise has left our hearts wounded, and we are still shocked you are no more.
You always check up on us, pray for us, advise us, love us, and above all, you would encourage us to be good children. Grandpa you are no more, but you will remain in our hearts forever and we are grateful for all you did for us. We will forever cherish all the good times we had with you.
Grandpa, your grandchildren are having difficulty reading your tribute, as this was not our wish but the wish of our maker. Our parents took us to Ghana to visit you on July 21, 2022, and almost three years down the line we are here mourning you.
The memories of our visit to you in Ghana still live on and it’s hard to forget the times we spent together. Your smiles, stories and advice will never be forgotten. It is hard for us, but we take consolation in Christ.
Our advocate and marriage counselor is no more. Our beloved father-in-law, Mr. John Osei Adu is gone. To us you were our father, a perfect gift from God. The world was a better place with a father-in-law like you.
You had such a great impact on our lives through your own life and through the lives of your amazing son and daughters which you gave to us to share our lives with. Dad, your death is the home going of one of God's most precious Saints, a life marked with unusual selflessness.
From the very beginning when each of us met you, we felt nothing but pure unconditional love. Your compassion, wisdom, tolerance, patience, and kindness gave us the strength to stay married to your children. Dad!!! Where are you? We miss you dearly!!!
Our minds are filled with questions as to why you left so soon, but who are we to question God. Heavens are rejoicing because a precious Saint is joining them, but our hearts are broken because you've left a huge vacuum...
Damirifa dua.... Your grandchildren are forever grateful for your unfailing love.
You were a precious gift from God, so much beauty, grace, love, and patience you possessed.
You touched our hearts in so many ways, your strength and smile even on our darkest days made us realize we had an angel beside us. We will forever miss you, our precious father-in-law. We were looking forward to another visit to Ghana just like we did on July 21, 2022, but unfortunately your demise cut short the expected joy to grace this anticipated memorable occasion. We believe you are where there will be no sickness, pain, tears and all the evil things in our world today.
As Abusuapanin, his leadership qualities, tolerance, gifted diplomacy, peaceful nature and above all his kindness and loyalty endeared him to all and sundry. We are indeed grateful to the Almighty God for given us such a personality of his caliber.
He has really done his very best to steer the affairs of the family and we cannot forget his great contributions towards seeing the welfare of everybody who got closer to him.
In fact, we have really lost an irreplaceable man. All that we can say for now is God richly bless you and be with you wherever you are and may the good Lord grant you an eternal rest till we meet again.
OPANIN ADU, REST IN PEACE OUR HERO
Damirif Du
Grandpa, your grandchildren say "mo ne adwuma': from the depth of our hearts we say may the Lord bless you and keep you safe for us.
We love you dearly grandpa. Your departure has created a big vacuum, which can never be filled, a great pillar of wisdom has fallen. Thank you for being the world's best Grandpa.
Rest in peace Grandpa, rest in the Lord's bosom. Until we meet again. Rest in perfect peace

TRIBUTE BY WIDOW TO MY BELOVED HUSBAND
My backbone has been broken. My dream ered. My husband was such a wonderful man! No amount of words or actions can really w dearly I will miss him. Medo, you w and always offered the best of ving husband will give to his wife. ase was extraordinarily different.
du, as I always call him was not only a nice onderful father, my best friend, ather and so much more. Papa o make everyone feel comfortable, ed were his greatest strength.
It was nearly 7 years since we married, and I look back those years with so much happiness.
I remember the first time I met him; he came to Accra UTC with his nephew looking to buy some clothes. I was a trader and helped him. He took a rest at my shop and introduced himself to me. I was too shy initially to even look at him.
We had some conversations, and he was very appreciative of the way I helped him with the cloth choices. He gave me his complimentary card, and we started communicating afterwards. We eventually fell in love, and I have never regretted to have accepted his love proposal and then eventually marrying him.
Papa was always such a gentleman, well-mannered and polite, but always quick with a witty remark. His joviality and good nature attracted people the moment he walked in a room, and no one could forget his raucous and contagious laugh.
He was wonderful to anyone who got close to him every second, minute, hour and anytime because he was always there to pick up the pieces and sort things out before they became issues.
Even when he felt sick, my husband made sure he provided for the family needs. He always encouraged me to be involved in life situations of people whenever I could be helpful to them. He brought out the best in me.
. He would always say Auntie Ama you can't rest on your laurels. You must keep forging ahead and make the best of everything. In fact, he was my soul mate and my inspiration, my steadfast rock and helped me through thick and thin.
Papa, although you have left the house empty and alone, l will always miss you. Papa, you may be in heaven now, but I know you are looking down at us with a big smile on your face "saying " forge ahead and make the best of life.
Good bye my Dearest Sweet Husband and God bless you Papa!! Barima onimuonyamfo damirifa due....Nante yie
