These days many of us are between raising our children and taking care of aging parents. Can you relate? As much of a joy it is to be present for our loved ones, it can become overwhelming. We’d like to introduce you to Serenity Adult Day Care. OTM had the pleasure of sitting down with Serenity and here is what we learned:

OTM: Let’s begin with a brief overview of what exactly Serenity Adult Day Care is and does.

We offer an active social community for your adult loved one (18+) to enjoy while receiving the care they need. Care is provided by trained and skilled licensed nursing staff. Family caregivers will have peace of mind knowing your loved one is spending the day in a safe, comfortable, compassionate and socially engaging environment while receiving expert care.

We are a local resource to help our guests to remain in their homes and to stay independent for as long as possible. Our staff members are certified and/or licensed in Georgia and are committed to excellence allowing our guests to grow and thrive each in their own unique way.

OTM: What services does Serenity provide?

Our trained staff can help with many duties including eating difficulties, walking and transferring from sitting to standing, and toileting needs. We can also provide assisted bathing in our specially-designed handicapped shower (for an additional fee)

Our nurse director will provide health screenings and medication assistance. (Including; blood pressure check, weight management, eye and hearing assessments, diabetes management and more. Our goal is to keep your loved one healthy all year round!)

OTM: What kind of Activities are offered at Serenity?

Our amazing and courteous recreational staff will plan and lead enjoyable activities throughout the day. These activities and interests are designed around our guest’s abilities. We always encourage socialization, and design activities to stimulate thinking and problem-solving.

Activities we offer: Exercise and fitness, including fun chair stretches, movement, games-Wii, arts and crafts, painting, knitting, memory games and even bingo. We will have music and special guest performances. We will have periodic visits by our 4-legged friends… and will always have exciting and enjoyable selected television shows and movies to watch.

OTM: Do you offer transportation?

Yes! If you are a Medicaid participant transportation is provided. If you live with in a 15 mile radius of our center, Our coverage extends throughout Cobb, Paulding, Bartow, Douglas and Cherokee counties.

OTM: Food is definitely a hot topic, what do you provide in terms of meal services?

At Serenity, our guests receive a full breakfast, hot delicious and nutritious noon time lunch and afternoon snacks. All prepared In-house utilizing our commercial grade kitchen. We plan our meals under the guidance of a registered dietician to comply with our guest’s nutritional needs and any individual dietary restrictions.

Serenity is open Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (We offer our extended hours to accommodate caregivers’ work schedules)

Dr Barry Cohen has been a respected Orthodontist in the Smyrna area since 1988 and is a Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. In mid-2017, Dr. Matt Cohen joined the practice to make a strong father/son team. At Cohen Orthodontics, we provide interceptive treatment, comprehensive adolescent as well as adult orthodontic treatment with traditional appliances, metal and clear braces and Invisalign for teen and adults. Our goal is to work with you every step of the way to ensure your treatment is as relaxed, convenient and rewarding as possible
