he stepped back on the sideline did more for him than any of those therapies. Everybody was crying. At halftime I was supposed to push him to the locker room but he suddenly just took off with his right arm going across the floor so fast. The crowd just started screaming, ‘You go, Coach’”.

When those same girls, a few weeks later, won their first region championship since 2005, Mike asked his beloved soul mate to follow the winning tradition and go up on the ladder and cut the net for him. Melody turned and said, “no... you can do this.” With 10 hands holding Mike up making sure he wouldn’t go down, this incredible man and coach performed the feat as Melody made sure he would.

“I used to be the first one there and the last one to leave. I now can’t do all of the physical things like line the field or cut the grass. The boys coach is my assistant (and does that). I’m now doing all of the paperwork and scheduling. It’s definitely a whole different ballgame now.” said the Coach.

I caught up with some of the people who know Mike best.

Former Head of School, David Raines: “His job titles were Athletic Director and basketball coach but he was so much more than that. He was always taking time to encourage students and listening to what was going on in their lives. He truly is an inspiration to all of us.”

Ed Morris, the current Head of School: “The theme for our athletic department is “Testimony First” based on Matthew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Coach Gold is a great example of this verse. His humble, servant leadership sets a tone for our students to “shine before others” here at Dominion Christian. We are so glad that Coach Gold is a part of our staff.”

Maci Campbell, a player on Coach Gold’s team: “I began playing for Coach Gold my freshman year, little did I know I wasn’t just playing for any team, I was being adopted. Coach Gold and Mama Gold quickly became mentors, encouragers, and family to me and every other girl on the team. A win in Coach Gold’s book didn’t happen on the court. It happened in our locker room or on Coach Gold’s couch where me and the rest of the team would have what we like to call therapy. Coach Gold is someone encouraging constantly, abounding in joy, and giving glory to the Lord even in his hardest times.”

Progress is being made. Mike Gold has been driving again for about a year now and just drove on the interstate for the third time since the stroke. He also has started to walk with a 4 pronged-cane.

This special coach summed it all up, “I realized that day that God’s not done with me yet. I’ve got more to do. I call it my bonus life. I believe I’m on 864 days (as of our meeting) of bonus life since the stroke.”

Through chiropractic adjustments, subluxations in the nervous system are eliminated, thereby contributing to improved immune system function. A 5-year-old boy named Beau had been experiencing frequent visits to the emergency room due to constant illnesses. In search of a solution, his mother decided to bring him to our office. She was amazed and overwhelmed with joy after a few months of care, as Beau’s primary care physician was able to discontinue six different medications that were prescribed for his lung issues, including asthma and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). In the past year, Beau has only had to be hospitalized once.

Chiropractic care, inspired by D.D. Palmer, the Founder of Chiropractic, is deeply rooted in understanding the body’s inherent ability to heal and function optimally. This healthcare approach acknowledges the crucial relationship between the spine, nervous system, and overall well-being. The spine serves as a protective armor, facilitating intricate communication within the nerve system, which is vital for sustaining life.

From the moment you discover you’re expecting a baby, your body begins its incredible work. Within the first three weeks of conception, the central nervous system starts laying the foundation for the developmental events that unfold over the following months. Imagine a symphony of intelligence flowing through your baby’s delicate form, orchestrated by the nervous system. However, even within the womb, the spine of your child may experience misalignments, adding to the challenges faced during the journey into this world. These misalignments, known as subluxations, have the potential to disrupt the life-giving signals from the brain to the body, hindering proper development. This is where the transformative power of chiropractic care becomes evident.

Assists with Digestive Issues:

The chiropractor, acting as a skilled conductor, delivers gentle and precise adjustments to realign the spinal segments in a baby, exerting no more force than assessing the ripeness of a tomato. The result is a restoration of rhythm within the body, enabling the full expression of the body’s innate potential for healing and vitality. The same power that animates our human body is liberated. Aligning the spine becomes a sacred dance, reinstating balance, clearing nerve pathways, and allowing the unhindered flow of life force. Freed from interference, the body thrives in ways that defy expectations.

Central to our philosophy is a deep respect for the body’s wisdom, recognizing that true healing originates from within. It beckons us to embark on an extraordinary journey, nurturing, celebrating, and awakening the innate intelligence within your baby to its fullest potential.

When it comes to the well-being of our children, we naturally seek safe and effective solutions. Pediatric chiropractic care has garnered recognition as a gentle and holistic approach to supporting children’s overall health and development. Extensive research conducted by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) provides five compelling reasons, supported by their findings, to consider taking your child to a chiropractor.

1

Promotes Proper Neurological Development:

ICPA research suggests that chiropractic care can positively influence the neurological development of children. Chiropractic adjustments help optimize the functioning of the nervous system, which plays a crucial role in a child’s growth, learning, and behavior. Proper spinal alignment supports healthy brain-body communication, facilitating optimal neurological development. I have witnessed firsthand the progress my boys have made through chiropractic care, supporting their overall development and well-being.

Enhances Immune System Function:

The ICPA’s research emphasizes the role of chiropractic care in bolstering the immune system. A well-functioning nervous system plays a vital role in coordinating immune

Pediatric chiropractic care has shown promise in addressing common digestive issues in children. Research suggests that chiropractic adjustments can alleviate symptoms associated with colic, acid reflux, constipation, GERD, and other gastrointestinal discomforts. Subluxations in the spine can exert unnecessary pressure on the diaphragm and disrupt the digestive system. By realigning the spine, chiropractic care provides relief from this pressure, often resulting in symptom reduction after just a few treatments. My children have experienced similar relief from digestive issues, reinforcing the effectiveness of chiropractic care in this regard.

Supports Healthy Sleep Patterns: Sleep is vital for a child’s growth, development, and overall well-being. Research indicates that chiropractic care contributes to improved sleep patterns in children. By addressing the root cause, chiropractic adjustments help increase the flow of life-giving signals allowing for more restful nights. Witnessing this positive impact on my boys has solidified my conviction in pediatric chiropractic care for their overall well-being.

Facilitates Sports Performance and

Injury

Prevention: Chiropractic care holds great potential in optimizing performance and reducing injuries for children engaged in sports and physical activities. Through corrective chiropractic care, flexibility, coordination, and balance can be enhanced, leading to improved athletic performance. As a father of sports-loving children, I have personally witnessed the positive impact of chiropractic care on their injury recovery and sports performance. Moreover, we have a patient who recently achieved remarkable progress in her athletic performance, winning multiple track meets thanks to her well-functioning nervous system.

Deciphering the cause of a baby’s distress can be challenging. Consider a gentle chiropractic adjustment as a potential solution for your child. As a chiropractor and a father, I have witnessed the benefits of pediatric chiropractic care firsthand. Consult a pediatric chiropractor to explore these advantages for your child’s well-being. The research by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association highlights the positive effects of chiropractic care on neurological development, immune system function, digestion, sleep patterns, sports performance, musculoskeletal conditions, and preventive care. Embrace the transformative power of chiropractic care and unlock your child’s innate potential for vibrant health. Stop by or call today to schedule your children’s life transforming first visit.
