Her talent began to showcased after her parents, Ryan and Raniece Dalton, decided to let her have at it in designing her own room. Maya’s work has caught the attention of social media, too. “When we moved from Brooklyn to Montgomery, we bought our first house,” explained Mr. Dalton, an inclusion teacher at Sidney Lanier High. “ We wanted Maya to have a role in decorating her own room.” After taking her outside and giving her bowls filled with different colors of paint and a canvas, she had her way with the white space. “She would paint a little then get bored, “ Mr Dalton said, “ so I would walk her around the backyard and take her back to the canvas and she would get back to it.”
