Aneeta’s six-toed cable stitch Designing your own cable stitch isn’t something I recommend, but I couldn’t resist having a go, and after lots of maths, undoing and re-knitting, here it is. I’m calling it Aneeta’s six-toed cable stitch and no, I don’t have six toes – I just thought it would be a funny name as the cable has six strands to the pattern. It’s a more complicated-looking cable design, which I think is pretty and very satisfying to knit. As I’ve put it on a garter stitch background and not a reverse stocking stitch, as is traditional for cable patterns, this stitch won’t curl and would make a great scarf.
This bag was knitted with 1½ balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK and two repeats of the stitch pattern (that’s a caston of 48sts). Download a free PDF from www.knittingsos.co.uk for instructions on how to sew on bag handles.
