Megan appears in red Chat moderators appear in blue Rachel S: Welcome to the chat portion of Fracture Fest! Does anyone have questions for Megan? Jessica: Do you ever get writer’s block? Heather S: I have one that was How do you plan on spending tomorrow for the release day? Megan M: Jessica - I definitely do! And if I can't force myself to get words on the page, unfortunately it usually means I need to step back Lesley J: @Heather she said she was going to be at Books of Wonder tomorrow! Megan M: and see if there's a bigger problem. Michael H: Megan, how has your background in science helped you as a fiction writer? Anna M: what do you like to do when you're not writing/if you need to "step back"? Scarlett P: Who designed the cover? Brɇ L: In case you didn't see my question earlier - are you excited to judge the contest entries for the Fracture Contest on Figment, Megan? Megan M: So the idea for Fracture? I was drawn to all these stories of people who were supposed to die, but lived.... and how science could explain that. Heather S: Is there anything you had to take out that you wished you could have left in the story? No need to explain with so many ppl not having read it yet Megan M: And also how it might change that person who is considered the miracle. What's it like for them? Lesley J: love the idea! Nel L: I just checked the figment page for the contest. Darn, I can't enter. I really wanted to though. Megan M: Michael, I think it gives a LOT of material. There's a lot of why's and how's and whatif's -- LOTS of ideas! Kim B: The chat is being a little wonky! We'll be reposting the questions and answers on the page as well. Anna M: What is your motivation to keep writing? sometimes i find it hard to continue a book im trying to write, even if i really like the idea... Megan M: Heather, ohhhh, the story changed so much over the course of each draft! I'm really happy with the way it all turned out, but I feel like I know so much more about some characters that doesn't make it on the page. But it's not their story, so… Brɇ L: So Megan, how did you go about getting published? What I mean to say is - what are the first steps? I'm an aspiring author, and any advice would be Anneliese J: do you have any tips for young fiction writers? Brɇ L: **most appreciated. Heather S: I'm not getting to see any answers Megan M: Anna, I honestly think there's always *that point* in writing a book (for me, it's the middle) -- but I remind myself of the scenes I want to get to
