A Brief History of Bloomers
In 1978, Bloomers was founded by Joan Harrison as the first collegiate women’s comedy troupe in the country. Today, Bloomers has evolved to a troupe for under represented gender identities in comedy. For the last few decades, Bloomers has written and performed original sketch comedy. We produce a completely new show each semester both on and off Penn’s campus.
The Six Sections of Bloomers
Cast choreographs, directs, and performs an original sketch comedy show each Fall and Spring.
Band arranges and performs songs during the shows, as well as at outside formals and parties.
Writing ideates our show concepts and digital content scripts from the ground up.
Tech constructs immersive sets while managing light and sound design.
Costumes designs all character attire from ‘Camp Counselor 2’ to a life-size Penn Quaker mascot costume.
Biz (Business) manages all things production - from finances to graphic design.
