INSPIRATION AT YOUR FINGER TIPS Hello Bliss Celebrations’ Friends, It is my pleasure to welcome you to the beautiful 8th edition of BLISS Celebrations Guide. I am very excited to share this new resource full of creative inspirations and unforgettable real weddings, all designed by New England’s most talented wedding and event industry professionals. In this issue, you will find that color, pattern, and personal hallmarks were distinctive trends in many weddings and events. The influence of color can be found in lavish and impressive floral installations that adorn tabletops, tents and ceremony backdrops and embellish everything from escort card tables to fabulous cakes. Increased use of patterns were noted in mix and match floral bridesmaids dresses, china and table linens. Uniquely designed monograms decorated paper suites, cakes and gorgeous pillows that enhanced inviting lounge areas. All of these incredible details continue to make each wedding or event one-of-a kind. This has been an incredible year for BLISS Celebrations Guide! We are thrilled to share that the BLISS media platforms have grown tremendously. Our print publication flew off of the bookstore shelves and we restocked our advertisers with magazines constantly. The digital magazine’s readership had the highest number of readers in 8 years. And the BLISS social media platforms have exploded with many more followers and likes!

The quaint grounds of Mount Hope Farm evoke the atmosphere of the English countryside, which was ideal for this styled shoot awash with vibrant flora and fashion. “We wanted to showcase spring

flowers in soft, but colorful shades of the rainbow and to show brides that color doesn’t translate to ‘loud’ when styled well,” Yumiko Fletcher of Hana Floral Design described. Collaborating with Fletcher, Exquisite Events, framed the opening to the barn with chiffon draping tied aside to reveal a sparkling chandelier above a whitewashed farm table surrounded by caned-back chairs and a cozy linen loveseat. A pale blue runner lined the table for the vintage urns that were loosely filled with lush flowers in vivid coral, peach, and cerulean hues. Vintage china place settings and silver trays helped define the bucolic English look the team desired. Beth Chapman of Beth Chapman Styling dressed the bridesmaid in a rich, teal gown and the bride in a modern ball gown, which complemented the lush bouquet of peonies, ranunculi, orange fritillaria, and pale blue delphinium.

Since childhood, Alexandra had an affinity for the color yellow. The cheerful color, a symbol of happiness and positive energy, was the perfect hue for Alexandra and Ryan’s wedding. The couple

chose Newport as the location for their wedding, since they loved spending time there together and because of the sunny seaside vibe inherent to the coastal town. Then, they sought out Em Devaud of Em Devaud Events to assist them with all the details leading up to their day. “Em is the BEST—super hardworking and helpful during every stage of the design and planning process,” Alex raved. Collaborating with the teams at Exquisite Events and Greenlion Design they transformed the tent into a jovial garden bursting with deep greens, golden yellow flora, and warm shimmering light. The boldest style statement came from the captivating bridesmaids’ gowns varying in intensity from pale lemon to vivid canary.

With its gilded architecture and grand elegance, the Taj Boston offered the ideal backdrop for this masculine black-tie wedding.

With visions of a clean and simple design, Andrew and Brian enlisted the talents of floral designer Gregory Costa-Saint John of Flou(-e)r to make their dream wedding a reality. Gold trumpet vases filled with greens and pops of white blooms lined a Tuscan table and sat on a bed of leafy garland. Rich, gold damask linens and classic chiavari chairs elevated the overall look creating visual interest and enhancing the inherent beauty of the Taj Boston’s ballroom. Taper and pillar candles gave off a warm glow adding a dash of intimacy to this sophisticated black-tie affair. The night concluded with a delectable five-tier white textured cake topped with fresh greens crafted by the talented catering team at Taj Boston.

Purples, ranging in intensity from the softest lilac to vivid ultra violet to deep aubergine, infused a modern ballroom with life and color. The relaxing scent of

fresh lavender mingled with lilac and eucalyptus filled the air magically at this wedding. Kim Lamothe of Greenlion Design intended for the space to resemble a beautiful spring garden and created bountiful arrangements that were both structured and organic to realize the vision. At the bottom of the grand staircase a lively arrangement of lavender, eucalyptus, and sweet peas wrapped around the banister naturally like it just bloomed there. The fireplace mantel featured a similar lush arrangement creating a breathtaking backdrop for the head table. Smaller arrangements mixed with taper candles lined the long tables, while each round table featured a floral sculpture perched upon a brushed nickel stand. “This wedding was full of life. Maybe it was the aromatherapy of all the flowers that kept us lively, but there were so many pretty things to photograph, we never got tired of snapping!” Mariah Ashley of Snap Weddings recalled.

With a honeymoon planned in France, it was fitting that Janelle and Mike held their wedding in a mansion that was modeled after Versailles. Soft pink tones

mingled with fresh garden greens to channel the Parisian-garden vibe that Janelle envisioned. “I remember walking into Sayles Livingston’s studio, where she had coordinated with Stasia and Angela of Exquisite Events to put together a model tablescape based on my Parisian wedding dream—I was blown away with the result then and on the day of our wedding,” Janelle raved. Guests were guided through the weekend of festivities by a custom welcome map designed by Sharon Morgera. A spectacular floral display atop a sequined linen greeted guests in the foyer of the mansion as they found their table. The beautiful blush and cream floral runner that lined the head table provided a lush foundation for tall crystal and gold candelabras, creating a magical setting for a French inspired night of dinner and dancing.

A summer color palette created a dreamy ambiance within the gilded ballroom at The Lenox Hotel. “Petal pink and gold are colors that to me, represent elegance, vintage glamour, and romance. I wanted my wedding to reflect those elements as much as possible,” Elizabeth explained. The ballroom, with its gold architectural details and vintageinspired hanging pendant lights, made The Lenox Hotel the perfect place to bring her dream wedding to life. The ceremony took place beneath the beautiful dome, accented with soft pink lighting. Behind the couple, a band of greenery with clusters of coral-hued amaryllis accented a wall of white chiffon draping, creating a blank canvas for peach and pink carnation buds that looked as though they were floating. After the ceremony this dreamy wall served as the backdrop for the sweetheart table. A harpist serenaded the newlyweds and the rest of the guests as they enjoyed a decadent meal crafted by the talented culinary team at The Lenox Hotel.

Michelle and Jim gravitated to their favorite hues to develop a color scheme that was clean, fresh and timeless for their late summer wedding at The Pavilion at Pinehills Golf Club. “The exposed

beams, along with the entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the golf course sold us at first glance,” Michelle recalled. Among the towering pine trees, a gazebo topped with a gar-land of greenery and pops of pink and coral flowers created an ethereal scene for the couple to be married. During the planning, Michelle developed a love for dahlias and wanted the bloom in coral and pink hues to be the standout flower. Dahlia-filled bouquets and arrangements were blended with blush roses and eucalyptus for dimension. Baby succulents were incorporated into the boutonnières and the cake paying homage to Jim’s favorite plant. At the end of the ceremony, a shower of confetti shot out of a cannon to kick off the party.

A muted color palette enhanced the beachy laid-back vibe that Allison and Brendan aspired to create on their wedding day. Having always

loved Newport, it was truly a dream come true for the couple to be married there surrounded by breathtaking ocean views and their family and friends. Giti Gerami from Botanica Wedding Flowers, incorporated soft tones into all aspects of the floral design to play up the natural seaside views that surrounded them. Weathered fences draped with garlands of greenery anchored the ceremony site creating a doorway that looked out onto the ocean. Bountiful white blooms filled vintage cement urns softening the weathered look as the couple said “I do.” Dinner was served upon farm tables lined with greenery that wrapped around votive candles that varied in height. “I loved our f lowers from Botanica Wedding Flowers—especially the pops of green in the centerpieces!” Allison exclaimed. The memorable day concluded with sugary confections and endless dancing.

Bright, warm autumn hues set the tone for Ale x and C or e y’s modern-meets-rustic wedding at a secluded farm in Maine. “Corey

and I wanted to bring a modern feel to the barn setting. It was fun finding each piece of the puzzle and seeing the theme develop as we moved through the design process with Jodi,” Alex reminisced. Event planner, Jodi Raphael, of Jodi Raphael Events, harnessed all the talent that made their dream wedding a reality. Intensely-colored floral arrangements and varied textures in the linens and place settings energized the reception space. Gray velvet upholstered chairs and a paisley-printed runner topped with buttery-yellow flora were juxtaposed with a whiskey-hued farm table where the wedding party sat. A serpentine table twisted through the round tables adding a playful feel to the tent. Vivid yellow and fiery orange autumn blooms were scattered about. “Jim Carr at Be Our Guest was a magician with the rentals—always coming up with exactly what we needed!” Alex exclaimed.

The elegance of the Glen Manor House inspired a deep, glamorous color palette full of Gatsby Era allure. Talia’s heart was always set on a

dark, romantic wedding like that of a Gatsby party; filled with midnight blues and glittering gold accents. “My vendors did an amazing job keeping everything balanced,” Talia recalled. After meeting with floral designer Semia Dunne, of Flowers by Semia, her focus shifted to incorporate more neutral hues like deep, earthy greens and warm whites with just the right amount of glitz. Midnight navy linens and tall gilded vases filled with creamy blooms topped each round table. Under a canopy of twinkling lights, a long navy table lush with a garland of greens created a magical outdoor dining experience for the bridal party. The cake, created by Talia’s mother Maureen Girard of Something Different Cake Couture, was truly a work of edible art consisting of a different texture on each layer and adorned with sugar anemones and peonies.

A breathtaking combination of pastel hues added enchantment to this stunning tented wedding.

Having been in the wedding industry for years, Kelly Fallon, of Ormonde Productions, had a specific vision of how she wanted her own wedding to be. A clear-top tent sat upon the tree-lined field of her parent’s property, setting the scene for the lovely outside soiree. Soft pastel pink and blue linens complemented the airy gray chiffon draping that was intertwined with sparkling chandeliers to create a whimsical vibe. Textural blooms in muted tones sat in high and low crystal vases, adding dimension and elegance to the overall décor. “The white dance floor and the lighting played a huge role in transitioning the tent from day to night. When the sun went down, the entire vibe went from airy and whimsical to bold and dramatic. It was magical,” Kelly reminisced.

Drawing inspiration from her fine arts background and love for old master floral paintings Madeline sought out the amazing talent of Allison Wildes Liset of Elegant Engagements to bring her visions to life. “Allison is incredible!

She guided us through every step with creativity and enthusiasm,” Madeline raved. Such creativity was evident in details throughout the event. Driftwood lanterns set the path for guests to enter the floral-filled tent. As a nod to the wedding’s Cape Cod location, Madeline chose soft blue and gold linens to subtly represent the landscape. Round tables featured tall crystal vases topped with greenery infused with pink blooms, while long farm tables were lined with abundant, floral arrangements in pink and magenta tones creating an organic, freshly-picked look. Sterling silver heirloom candelabras on the head table, and pillows and napkins embroidered with a custom-designed crest added a personal touch to the romantic garden-party ambiance. As day turned to night, Moravian stars from Ormonde Productions illuminated the tent with a warm glow to set the mood for dancing.

An unlikely color pairing created a bold palette that was as playful as it was imaginative, and proved to be absolutely perfect for this fantasy wedding styled photoshoot. The

Venetian Room at the Fairmont Copley Plaza was like an opulent playground for Jodi Raphael of Jodi Raphael Events, Gregory Costa-Saint John of Flou(-e)r, and Erica Jones of O Luxe Designs. Surrounded by gilded architecture and mirrored walls, these three designers with distinctly different aesthetics created a dream wedding styled photoshoot reminiscent of a secret garden. “It was all about the unique collaborations and the opportunity to work together to create a beautiful and memorable inspired event,” Jodi Raphael recalls. Lush greenery sprinkled with violet and fuchsia blooms looked as if they were growing out of tall crystal vases and golden candelabras. Damask linens in rich magenta and cerulean topped the head table while gold-wrapped table lids covered the guest tables completing this fanciful styled shoot full of inspiration.

Soft pink peonies, hydrangeas, and bright green maidenhair ferns created an ethereal summer color palette at Willowbend Country Club.

From childhood, Noelle knew what she wanted her wedding day to be like; a whimsical fairytale filled with pastel pinks and bright greens. The vibrant summer palette was carried throughout every detail of the day–from the peony pink bridesmaid gowns to the mercury glass mint julep vases filled with pink hydrangeas. Each place setting featured a champagne linen napkin tied with a pink ribbon and finished with a fresh sprig of rosemary. The escort cards, custom-designed by the groom’s mother were all hand-embossed with a maidenhair fern adding a personal touch to each place setting. “The outdoor terrace made for the most magical and enchanting space. Working with the amazing team at Willowbend allowed me to have a wedding that surpassed my wildest dreams,” Noelle raved.

Kayla’s soft blush bridal gown inspired a muted palette of berry tones for the floral design and the bridal party’s attire for her metropolitan wedding held at The Exchange Conference Center in Boston’s historic Seaport District.

Complementing Kayla’s dress flawlessly, each bridesmaid wore a soft plum colored chiffon gown and carried a bouquet of lavender and cream blooms. A delicious dinner crafted by East Meets West was served at elegant round tables decorated with antique silver floral stands that held a textural blend of greenery and champagne and mauve flowers. “The entire staff at The Exchange Conference Center surpassed even our greatest dreams. I will never forget the feeling of awe when I finally saw everything put together so perfectly at our reception,” Kayla reminisced. The night concluded with a scrumptious buttercream cake topped with fresh plum-toned flowers crafted by Konditor Meister.

Deep, saturated hues paired with bright whites created a romantic ambiance for nuptials overlooking Newport Harbor. Lexi envisioned her

wedding day would be filled with magic and elegance, an experience that her guests would remember for years to come. Event design extraordinaire, Edna Dratch-Parker, of EFD Creative along with Kasie Blanchette, brought Lexi’s visions to life handling every detail from the décor to the entertainment. The ceremony was held outside under a canopy of lush flora in deep mauve and creamy white hues intertwined with rich textured greens, giving the guests a hint of the beauty inside the ballroom. A white mantel surrounded by capiz shells and illuminated by candles floating in crystal vessels offered a romantic backdrop for the couple to share their first meal as husband and wife. Each guest table featured tall floral sculptures bursting with moody blooms, sprawling greens, and warm candlelight, setting the tone for the magical night ahead.

historic beauty. “It had such a distinct

vintage feel, so at once we chose to keep everything else as timeless and neutral as possible,” Melanie described. Though the sun wasn’t shining, the bright clouds bounced light off the surrounding trees and lawn creating a vibrancy that provided the picture perfect backdrop for Melanie and Jordan’s wedding day. Leafy floral arrangements featured textural blooms in cream and blush hues placed in golden goblets on each table where cocktail hour was held. Dinner was served in the dining room with beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out onto the vast rolling hills lined with endless trees. The long table was sprinkled with leafy greens accented with white buds. Mercury glass vessels held twinkling candles creating a warm and inviting ambiance for dinner.

A classic color palette embodied the nature surrounding the New England Aquarium and was perfect for this summer soiree. From the time

of their engagement, the couple knew they wanted a unique venue in the heart of Boston that could accommodate an outdoor ceremony. The New England Aquarium was ideal, and its sweeping water views inspired the color palette as well as the rest of the event design. The ceremony, overlooking Boston Harbor, was held under an elegant birch arbor draped with linen and adorned with summer blooms. Dinner was served in a beautiful white tent that was softened by twinkling lights and terrariums in fish bowls adding a whimsical touch. “Whim Event’s offering included a trip to the flower market – my mom and I toured with Moira to choose the flowers and six weeks later we were able to see those same flowers in the bouquets! It made the wedding that much more memorable,” the bride reminisced.

OF THE

The 2018 Pantone Color of the Year, Ultra Violet, made its debut early at this striking color-rich wedding. With an affinity for the color

purple and sophisticated décor, Samantha communicated her vision for the day to Nicole Simeral of Nicole Simeral & Company called on the floral design talents of Marc Hall of Marc Hall Design to bring this vision to life through vibrant flora. The ceremony was held under a Chuppah of creamy white and soft purple blossoms setting the tone for the reception that followed. A floral runner of vivid violet orchids and dusty pink roses popped against the shimmering sterling linen covering the head table. Each guest table was adorned with tall crystal vases that were so clear it gave the illusion that each floral sphere was floating above the table. Translucent chairs trimmed in white completed the modern look of this ultra-violet wedding.

A palette of quintessential New England hues enhanced the ocean views of the Saybrook Point Inn & Spa. Meeting each other at Connecticut

College, Kate and Colin had their hearts set on being married along the Connecticut shoreline. “As soon as we pulled up to Saybrook Point Inn we knew it was perfect. From the sweeping views to the welcoming staff, we felt at home,” Kate reminisced. Captivated by the charm the inn offered, Kate chose a summery color palette that played off of the coastal vibe. Periwinkle and cream hydrangeas lined the arch overlooking Long Island Sound where the ceremony took place. A wall of floor-to-ceiling windows in the ballroom offered unparalleled views that were complemented by coastal inspired arrangements of powdery-blue hydrangeas, pink roses, ranunculi, and peonies–helping to bring Kate and Colin’s dream wedding to life. f e atUr e d

Striving for a feeling of warmth that emulated the almost autumn date of their nuptials, Teresa and Kevin chose a soft, neutral palette that would contrast with the rustic terrain of Newport Vineyards. A

sea of pink floral chiffon and a ravishing bride accented the vineyard with pastel perfection. Vintage wine barrels topped with an abundance of greenery peppered with creamy-white and rosy-pink buds were scattered throughout the vineyard, setting the tone for the ceremony and cocktail hour that followed. Inside the newly-renovated event space at Newport Vineyards, exposed beams, shiplap walls, and vast windows offered unobstructed vineyard views creating an authentic and inviting ambiance for dinner. One of Teresa’s favorite details, second to her bouquet that was bursting with late summer blooms, was the simply elegant garland of greens that adorned the sweetheart table where she and Kevin had their first meal as a married couple.

The alluring grandeur of the ballroom at Boston Park Plaza was an ideal backdrop for this classic wedding. P H O T O G R A P H E D BY G R A Z I E R P H O T O G R A P H Y

Joanna envisioned a modern twist on the classic all-white wedding. Partnering with Nicole Simeral, of Nicole Simeral & Company, she was able to make this vision a reality. Joanna’s gown inspired nearly all of the design elements. The fitted bodice featured a traditional lace pattern that flowed into a modern organza skirt embroidered with a floral motif. That floral motif was carried throughout the wedding design—from the paper goods to the lighting. The pattern was projected onto the white dance floor while guests dined and as soon as it was time to dance, the pattern scaled the walls and ceiling, enchanting every guest in the ballroom. Immense silver urns filled with an abundance of fresh white flowers and deep greenery added a glamorous touch, completing the overall look. “The gray and metallic color scheme of the newly renovated ballroom was an incredible match with my style!” Joanna raved. 106

With a guest list of over 300 people they needed a vast space and stellar team of visionaries to transform it; Nicole Simeral was the only choice for Rebecca and Roman. “Nicole curated a team of professionals with matching energies, each with individual creative genius, all eager to create something unique,” Rebecca raved. Custom-designed chandeliers of greenery and crystal orbs hung from the iron grid creating a dramatic garden-like vibe that drew focus to the dance floor. A mix of mirrored and custom-made graffiti tables topped with vintage candelabras seamlessly fused urban-industrial style with sophisticated elegance; a true balance in the art of juxtaposition that resulted in the creation of an enchanting space for their wedding. 108

VINTAGE GLAMOUR1 Old world architecture combined with twinkling lights set the tone for a magical night of romance. P H O T O G R A P H E D BY B . M E D E I R O S

Rhodes on the Pawtuxet embodies vintage glamour like no other venue. Its rich history combined with the culinary expertise of exclusive caterer, Russell Morin Catering & Events, made Rhodes the ideal place for Sarah and Russell to tie the knot. “The way the ceiling lights reflected off the beautiful hardwood floors was ethereal – we knew Rhodes on the Pawtuxet had the perfect wow factor for our day,” Sarah said. Drawn to the deep, saturated colors inherent to the autumn season, Sarah chose a color palette of lush scarlet and garnet red hues with pops of fiery orange. The warm colors, which harmonized with the building’s architecture, were used in the textured floral arrangements that adorned each table, the bouquets carried by the bridal party, and the napkins at each place setting. Personal touches like a memorial table of photographs of loved ones they wished were there and a harpist that played the couple’s favorite songs completed the wonderful night. 110

ENCHANTED FOREST2 Surrounded by majestic views of the Adirondack Mountains, Mary and Justi became husband and wife. P H O T O G R A P H E D BY C H R I S T O P H E R D U G G A N

Tucked away between the massive peaks of the Adirondack Mountains stands a private residence that’s very special to Mary and Justi. When it came time to plan their wedding they decided to invite only their closest friends and family to share this magical place, making it an intimate gathering and a celebration of love. Dan Mathieu of MAX Ultimate Food not only crafted a stellar menu of mouthwatering dishes, but he also assisted the couple with the planning and design of the day. With so much earthy splendor surrounding them, Mary and Justi allowed the décor to enhance Mother Nature’s beauty. Tall trees created an idyllic walkway into a clear tent where dinner was served. The tables were set with fresh flowers, ferns, and other greens that were gathered from the property. For a truly special focal point, a suspended wooden canoe filled with fresh ferns stretched the length of a farm table creating a unique twist on the traditional chandelier. 112

TIMELESS ELEGANCE2

Sweeping Narragansett Bay views from the ballroom at Quidnessett Country Club set the tone for an evening of romance. P H O T O G R A P H E D BY S A M A N T H A R O B S H AW

Haley had envisioned what her wedding day would be like since childhood; classy, elegant, and filled with romance. With its golden grasses and sparkling water, Quidnessett Country Club provided an idyllic backdrop. Haley drew inspiration for the day from the intricate details on her bridal gown–from the shimmering beadwork to the breathtaking illusion back lined with tiny white buttons. Her bridesmaids donned sequin gowns in a champagne hue that complemented Haley’s gown flawlessly and added a little extra sparkle. Pure white roses with blush centers were bundled into tight, symmetrical bouquets and arrangements creating a modern and refined look. Like the scrolling beadwork on her gown, the wedding cake featured piped buttercream scrolls that glistened when they caught the light. The magical night ended with a candy bar where guests could customize their own bag of goodies to take home with them. 114

MAGIC OF IKEBANA1 The Japanese art of flower arrangement known as Ikebana was the inspiration for this modern wedding. P H O T O G R A P H E D BY H E N RY + M AC

Nicole was inspired by clean lines and geometric shapes for their sophisticated aesthetic and wanted her floral arrangements to embody that look. The architectural nature of Ikebana spoke to her, and with the help of her planner, Alexis Eliopoulos O’Mara of Unique Weddings by Alexis, she found the florist to bring her vision to life. The couple was married under a Chuppah in front of oversized windows overlooking the Boston skyline. Warm candlelight illuminated mini arrangements of tropical flora and cut monstera leaves at each table on the balcony during cocktail hour, setting the tone of the night. Inside, mirrored tables paired with ghost chairs from PEAK Event Services - RESERVE featured tropical leaves that were wrapped and molded into shapes like miniature art installations, and stretched the length of the table. Guests feasted on a delicious meal before hitting the dance floor to waltz the night away. 116

MODERN ROMANCE1 The refined beauty of the Atrium Room at the Crowne Plaza Warwick set the tone for a magical night. P H O T O G R A P H E D BY M A S S A R T P H O T O G R A P H Y

The moonlit sky shone through the glass ceiling of the Atrium Room at the Crowne Plaza Warwick, shining down on Samantha and David as they shared their first dance as husband and wife. Starburst chandeliers scattered throughout the room cast a magical glow on the rich wooden floors, adding to the allure of the space. With a love for deep reds, Samantha wanted crimson to be the focus of the décor, with pops of silver to add dimension and glamour. White linen tables surrounded by silver chiavari chairs were topped with crystal vessels overflowing with rich crimson orchids. Samantha’s bouquet, comprised solely of scarlet calla lilies, created a rich contrast against her lacey white wedding dress. The bridesmaids donned merlot gowns in varying necklines which complemented Samantha’s bouquet. Each shade of deep red combined to create a cohesive palette like a blended fine red wine. 120

MARITIME MATRIMONY1 Modern décor and vast harbor views made the New Bedford Whaling Museum the perfect venue for Liza and Matthew’s wedding. P H O T O G R A P H E D BY L I S A G I L B E R T

It was a beautiful spring day right on the cusp of summer and the weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony near the water. Nestled among historic buildings along cobblestone streets with unparalleled harbor views, Liza and Matthew were married in front of the brick façade of the New Bedford Whaling Museum. “The New Bedford Whaling Museum provided the modern yet sophisticated atmosphere we were looking for. It was a familiar place for our local guests, but a different, interesting wedding venue for family and friends from out of town,” Liza recalled. The sun was shining bright flooding the newly renovated event space where the reception took place with natural light. Dramatic floorto-ceiling windows opened to the terrace overlooking the harbor where guests enjoyed summer cocktails and savory bites served by Russell Morin Catering and Events before heading inside for dinner and a night of dancing. 122

URBAN COZY2

The Waterman Grille was the perfect blend of cozy and elegant for this urban autumn wedding. P H O T O G R A P H E D BY M O L LY LO

Two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto the Seekonk River and parts of the city skyline, creating the ideal urban-meets-intimate vibe Grace and Joshua were looking to achieve on their special day. “We love Providence and wanted to make sure it was a big part of our day; from the location to the elegant yet relaxed feel, Waterman Grille was perfect,” Grace reminisced. Guests enjoyed cocktails at Waterman Grille’s terrace on the water, then moved into the intimate dining room for a savory meal. Grace drew inspiration from a bouquet she fell in love with that was filled with rich, warm autumn hues. Deep greens mixed with lush cranberryred flora filled the event space as well as Grace’s bouquet. Hollowed out sugar pumpkins filled with tiny, delicate blooms adorned every table to celebrate the season. The finishing touch that was deeply personal to Grace; a beautiful wedding cake artfully designed and baked by her sister. 124

The lush lawn, old stone walls, and majestic trees of Jane’s family’s private residence offered a picturesque backdrop that inspired her to blend the décor organically as if it were all part of the natural landscape. Leafy green branches anchored to the wooden supports of the tent created the illusion of flourishing trees. Loosely arranged greens with white blooms in vintage vessels were sprinkled across the vast tables below. Long banquet tables and family-style platters of food added a cozy element to the mix. “We wanted the food to reflect late August in New England and the team at Capers Catering presented colorful, in-season dishes, from cocktail hour to heaping passed platters at the dinner table. They were able to source special foods that we had requested, including legs of Jamon Iberico, oysters from Duxbury, MA, and ice cream from a New Hampshire dairy farm,” Jane recalled. 126

A fourteen foot dessert table was filled with sweet treats for guests to snack on throughout the day. Because Ani had grown up in Boston, it was important to her to be married in her hometown. With many guests traveling from all over the world, she searched for the perfect venue where she could hold an entire weekend of activities while providing accommodations for her guests. The Charles Hotel had everything Ani was looking for and more. “The Charles Hotel was beautifully understated and provided a great backdrop for a fun weekend of celebrations. Jennifer Halpin, the Senior Event Coordinator, and her event team were phenomenal Ani raved. Collectively the couple loved royal blue so choosing their color palette was also a simple decision for them. The bridesmaids wore rich, saturated blue taffeta gowns with varying necklines while the adorable flower girls were dressed in white tulle with royal blue bows. As a nod to their love for football the bridal party arrived in the iconic Gronk Bus from Rockstar Limo. 130

American fl ag and Hong Kong fl ag waved guests into a majestic tent overlooking Newport Harbor where this magical wedding was held. The location paid homage to Jim’s upbringing in Newport, RI, while Katherine’s Chinese heritage was represented through a dim-sum cocktail hour and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. “Our wedding planner, Exquisite Events, made everything come together beautifully and seamlessly,” Katherine recalled. 1 Katherine, an established eveningwear designer, custom-made all of the gowns including her own. 2 The Chinese symbol for double joy was embroidered on each napkin and

served as a place card holder as well. 3 The dashing duo shared the first slice of cake. 4 A little flower fairy covered the aisle with petals. 5 The luxe lounge offered a place to relax between dances. 6 A blend of roses, snapdragons, snowberries, and peonies in pedestal bowls lined the tables. 7 Standing beneath a canopy of snowberry, roses, and hanging strands of dendrobian orchids the couple said, ”I do.” 8 Katherine’s bouquet, along with the entire floral design by Sayles Livingston Design, featured soft, romantic blooms.

THE TIDES OF LOVE Endless coastal views combined with the sophisticated, relaxing feel of Newport set the tone for this summer wedding. photographed by

Classy

and elegant were the two words Gregory and Erika wanted to hear most when others spoke of their wedding. They achieved just that thanks to iconic ocean views, a magnificent fl oral design from Stoneblossom, and a world-class photographer, Sabrina Scolari capturing every defining moment. The day began with the ceremony taking place under a picturesque floral trellis overlooking the water and ended with a night of dancing.

1 A simply elegant three-tier confection with sugar flowers sweetened the night. 2 The light summery bouquet featured crisp white and soft blush blooms. 3 A rainbow of blue chiffon bridesmaid’s gowns were a nod to the ocean surrounding them. 4 Gold chiavari chairs and blush linens were a base for the brilliant floral sphere made to look like it was hovering above the table. 5 From Miss to Mrs. – the newlyweds sat upon garland wrapped chairs to share their first meal as husband and wife.

Andia

and Bob wanted their wedding to be warm and intimate and found Aldworth Manor, with its old-world charm, to be the perfect location to host their celebration. “Though we only had 14 guests, we did not want to compromise on the decor but rather use that to enhance the intimacy of the day—Apotheca surpassed all our expectations,” Andia reminisced. 1 Bob’s boutonniere was designed to look like a miniature version of Andia’s breathtaking bouquet. 2 For an added personal touch, cake and champagne were displayed on an antique chest from the 1800’s that was purchased by Andia’s parents as a gift. 3 Apotheca arranged a stunning loosely gathered autumn bouquet filled with warm white and deep wine blooms. 4 The seven-foot fireplace was draped in an abundance of greenery and fl owers that looked as if they had been growing there for years. 5 Delicate linens, lush floral arrangements, and antique candlesticks, set the table so guests could enjoy their dinner by candlelight. 6 Abundant fl oral displays adorned every surface of the manor like works of art.

With the help of Jennifer Chagnon of The Pink Polka Dot, high school sweethearts Caroline and Russell created an intimate setting for their summer wedding.

“We wanted

our guests to walk away feeling like they had just attended a fun dinner party with loved ones—not a stuffy wedding reception,” Caroline explained. The barn was adorned with mementos from their childhood, paying homage to their long history as a couple, and creating a warm, relaxed atmosphere. 1 A fanciful invitation suite featuring iconic Cape Cod illustrations set the tone for the event. From The Pink Polka Dot. 2 Fragrant eucalyptus was woven into Caroline’s bouquet for a unique twist. 3 Under a canopy of fresh summer greens

and white blooms, Caroline and Russell tied the knot. 4 Olive branches and fresh eucalyptus lined wooden farm tables to offer unobstructed views of the other guests at the table to encourage conversation. 5 The couple enjoyed a walk through the venue's bucolic surroundings. 6 Ivory and blush roses softened the look of the wooden farm tables inside the tent.

FOR

Caryn and Brendon having a quintessential New England wedding didn’t mean nautical themed décor; it meant an outdoor reception complete with a raw bar and vast ocean views dotted with sailboats. A soft palette of dusty greens, blush, and gold combined with personal touches helped to achieve the romantic elegance they had envisioned. 1 A bouquet of soft white blooms created by Sayles Livingston Design looked effortless. 2 Caryn and Brendon relaxed dockside, ready to set sail on the adventure of a lifetime together! 3 Twinkling lights, gold accents, and fresh flora in dusty hues filled the tent. 4 The day was full of endless laughter and love. 5 An abundance of greens peppered with blush blossoms were loosely perched upon shallow gold vases to

create the easy elegance Caryn dreamed of. 6 A dear family friend custom designed all the paper, including the menu cards, adding a personal touch to the day.

The

moment Amanda and Tommy set foot on the lawns of Linden Place they felt as though they had been transported to a southern plantation, and in that instant, they knew they had found their venue. Having grown up in North Carolina, Amanda had visions of bringing southern charm to coastal New England through antique dĂŠcor and creamy-white flora. 1 Foraged greenery with pops

of white blossoms held elegant chiffon drapery in place. Designed by Exquisite Events and Flowers by Semia. 2 Sprawling greens and mercury glass vases adorned the mantle creating a cozy backdrop for the head table. 3 Grits & Gratitude filled custom muslin satchets for each guest. 4 Chiffon draping hung from a willowy tree like Spanish moss does in the south, setting the scene for their first kiss as husband and wife. 5 A garland of greens and flora mingled with glowing candles in vintage-inspired glass vessels. 6 Flowers by Semia captured the look of the south in a creamy white bouquet rich with texture. 7 Mini floral arrangements with a dash of moody hues at each table embodied the romance felt in the room. 8 Burger bites crafted by Blackstone Caterers added a delicious touch of whimsy to the menu.

GROWING up surrounded by the influence of art, it was important to

Hannah to share this passion with Theo on their wedding day. The color palette was inspired by the beautiful Tuscan landscape that Theo and Hannah fell in love with on a recent trip. With these ideas, they called on the talents of Mindy Home of AE Events to blend their visions for an intimate soiree. 1 A blend of floral arrangements

When

it came time for Olivia to meet with her event planner, Tasha Bracken of SD Events, and floral designer Karen Taddei of Lilacs, she expressed her affinity for a clean, neutral look. She envisioned white and green floral accents mixed with earthy textures like wood and burlap, and the two seasoned event professionals created magic under a twinkling tent.

1 The table made guests feel as though they were dining in a magical garden. 2 A sea of crisp white bouquets against blue-gray gowns showcased the beauty of the neutral color palette. 3 Weathered shutters and a rustic flower box formed a cottage-like backdrop for the escort card table. 4 A textural bouquet of white blooms was enhanced by lush green amaranth. 5 Translucent place settings created the illusion of floating menu cards. 6 A tucked away sandy path offered the perfect spot to steal a smooch. 7 Dressed to impress, the couple’s furry friend was a favorite among guests. 8 Tall silver vases juxtaposed with vintage wooden boxes held each floral arrangement, blurring the lines between rustic and modern style.

STEPHANIE'S role in the wedding industry over the years provided her with a wealth of inspiration, so when it came time to plan her own wedding, she knew exactly what she wanted. “We picked decor that was in the jewel-tone family, but I wanted there to be plenty of variety to keep the design interesting without focusing too much on everything being a perfect match,” Stephanie described. 1 Hunter green gowns combined with richly

colored bouquets made a statement against a creamy white backdrop. 2 Golden yellow blooms added an unexpected splash of bright color to the mauve-filled floral arrangement. 3 Crystal chandeliers provide a romantic ambiance for the first dance. 4 Lush, crimson blossoms paired with greens and hints of fuchsia created a mystical bouquet. 5 The views from the rooftop at Providence G offered an iconic backdrop to capture the look of true love. 6 The pairing of rich table linens, wooden chairs, and various jewel-toned flora achieved an eclectic look.

BREATHTAKING BEAUTY at The Chanler

PHOTOGR APHED BY J US TIN & MARY THE WEDDINGS

THE VISION

Rich with history, The Chanler at Cliffwalk embodies old world elegance with its opulent architecture and gilded dÊcor. The venue’s vast ocean views provide the perfect canvas for an elegant, garden-like display of floral extravagance. Forgoing the traditional rectangular trellis, Sayles Livingston and her team at Sayles Livingston Design covered a circular trellis in peonies, ranunculus, garden roses, sweet peas, hydrangea, lemon leaf, eucalyptus, and ferns creating a romantic setting for the ceremony site that overlooked the ocean. The soft, neutral palette allowed Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the Shore to style the bridal party in rich, jewel tones and sumptuous textures like fur. A gold embossed bridal gown was a nod to the autumn season. The entrance to the terrace was draped with stormy-gray fabric laced with greenery to create a secret garden-like atmosphere. Just beyond the entrance, looking out over the sea, crystal chandeliers floated above a traditional wooden table that was draped with a shadow gray velvet runner and topped with an array of candles and lush cascading flora that created a look of effortless luxury.

Gingham YOURS TRULY,

A styled shoot uninhibited by tradition inspires brides to create a wedding look that is uniquely theirs. _____________________________ PHOTOGRA PHED BY CARLA TEN EYCK

T HE V ISION When Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the Shore first set eyes on the gingham silk taffeta gown designed by Carolina Herrera as it graced the runway she couldn’t wait to create an entire wedding look centered on that one bold print. “When we began discussing the editorial shoot with Kristen Nash, at the Copper Beech Inn, the premise was personalization, and making your wedding your own—what better way to show this than with a bold black and white gown!” Chapman exclaimed. The classic checked print, which was also a prominent design element in the invitation suite and paper goods, was artfully paired with other geometric prints and bright f loral arrangements, infusing color into the black and white palette. The attire provided the perfect backdrop for the textural bouquets of deep pink, magenta, and marigold colored blooms. Each daringly bold design element, including three fluffy kittens, was pieced together f lawlessly to create a look that was sophisticated yet still embodied a touch of southern glamour.

VISION Bright natural light flooded the preserved industrial framework of this former rubber manufacturing facility and bounced off the exposed steel beams and weathered bricks. The raw authenticity and muted colors of the space inspired Karen Taddei of Lilacs to choose her signature green and white floral palette with pops of burgundy and silver accents. “This was a natural palette not to compete with, but respect. The simplicity of the green pear branches turning burgundy with the season combined with the acid green viburnum and hanging amaranthus infused the industrial space with fresh beauty,” Taddei described. The Ryan Designs team created an airy canopy of chiffon draping and beaded chandeliers that floated above the zinc-top table softening the space with warmth and texture. Atop the table, soaring arrangements of earthy, autumn-kissed branches and hanging flora in silver fluted vases added a touch of drama while the clean lines of the transparent ghost chairs completed the modern silhouette. The bouquets and headpieces were designed with lush peonies, ranunculus, and sweet peas to complement the romantic look of the Midsummer’s Night inspired fashions from Modern Trousseau.

Olde Colonial

W INTER romance Taking a page out of the history books, this styled shoot marries colonial New England style with a touch of whimsical romance.

photographed by M. STUDIOS

the V1ISION3

Built between 1736 and 1739 the old Newport Colony House has been perfectly preserved to reflect the architectural design elements of that time. The vision of this styled shoot was inspired by the historical events that took place over the years, but incorporated a playful element that Joyce Holland of Stoneblossom best describes as “the royal order of fun.” The head table was draped with a sumptuous velvet linen in forest green, topped with a faux fur runner in black, beige, and cream hues. Atop the runner, lush flora in deep cranberry, plum, and icy peach hues mingled with antlers, pheasant feathers, winter berries, dried fruit, and antiquated gold candelabras, to form a wintery garland. The surrounding farm tables were bedecked with blackwatch plaid runners covered with tall taper candles, evergreen branches, fresh pine cones, and furry owls for a touch of whimsy. The fashion blurred the lines between old world classic and modern elegance with updated takes on timeless silhouettes. Blending with the fashion and décor, a menu crafted by John Edick of Blackstone Caterers was reminiscent of a colonial holiday feast.
