Blessing Hands Prayer Group

During the past 6 months the Lord has enabled Blessing Hands Prayer Group to reach over 500 families in need and provide dry rations or meals during this time of extreme economic hardship to the people most affected in northern and eastern Sri Lanka and the hill country.

Supporting
We are humbled to partner with over 85 pastors in various parts of Sri Lanka who have joined hands with us to pray together and to be the agents of eternal hope and blessing to the poorest. We are very grateful to the Lord for providing help through generous donors who have partnered with us over the past 6 months to distribute much needed provisions and support to needy families. We are taking each step in faith. This is exciting and challenging at the same time as the needs are great. But we are confident the Lord who started this work will see us through. To God be the glory.
Dry rations were distributed in Batticaloa to 15 families who were in need.
Dry rations were distributed to 25 families who were in need in the Ampara area
A small bag of basic dry rations were distributed to 26 families who were in need in the Vaharai area which is a region afflicted by the civil war.
A bag of rice (5 kg) was distributed to 23 families who were in need in the Poompuhar area
A bag of rice (5 kg) was distributed to 23 families who were in need in the Poompuhar area which has been plagued by years of economic hardships. People earn their living as day laborers engaged in various jobs like tree cutting, clearing the forest for development work or farming. The fuel shortage earlier this year had greatly impacted their lives as many had lost their jobs. Bro. Wellington and Pas. Nithiyanandan led the outreach. We were blessed to see so many people come to receive both the word of God and the food items.
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
To God be the glory, for His provision to the needy. Thanking all the field workers for their heart of love and their dedication
Dry rations were distributed to 55 families who were I need. This was combined with a gospel outreach meeting led by … We were blessed to see so many people come to receive both the word of God and the dry rations.

A note from our coordinator Sis Josephine Anthony: PTL. What a wonderfully blessed day Saturday was. Here are some pictures from the outreach program in interior villages of Vavuniya. It was a blessed time for the people and our team. There are no words to describe the hardships people are undergoing. Fuel shortage has hit these places so hard with ripple effects affecting their livelihood. Some are starving some have only a meal or two, may be rice with a green chili or so! If only every Christian decides to skip two meals a week and collect that money for those suffering.... We are leading absolutely luxurious lives while some have had not their meal of that day!
We distributed dry rations to 20 families in Maravankulam with Pas. Rajan. We also visited Poompuhar with Pas. Wellington. We later visited Thalikulam and met 10 widows of which one lady's husband is on a wheel chair after falling from a tree. His body is not functioning waist downwards for the past 10 years and his wife works as a house-helper in the neighborhood. The outreach program was held in their house. We are humbled to share that Jesus is the truth, way and life to 55 families. There were a couple souls who received Christ as their personal Saviour. Pas. Rajan and Pas. Wellington will follow-up with them. So grateful to God for His servants travelling miles after miles in motorcycle and at times in bicycles to reach out to people in these deserted places. Thank you for your prayers and your financial support. We have planned for some programs 1 to strengthen people in the near future. God bless you.

The classes were started in November 2022, with 100 enrollments. A few weeks into the program the participation had dropped and KRUPA rearranged the time for the classes to better suite their schedules. Every week there are 10 hours of instructions in total to 4 different age groups. The teacher is located in Chennai with 2 main coordinators and 2 support volunteer staff located locally.

I am humbled and delighted to share with you this brief report which reflects on the past several months, particularly as Blessing Hands Prayer Group publishes its second Impact Report. These past few months have been exciting as we had launched several new programs in various parts of Sri Lanka and have connected with a solid network of likeminded and dedicated pastors and local volunteers in the north, east and up country, to help support our efforts there.
Through the joint efforts of the Pastors and the team of volunteers we have been able to support various programs this year:
• Dry Rations providing dry rations to needy families, including those in remote, hard to reach areas;
• Livestock for Livelihood Project providing goats and chickens to several needy families;
• Prayer groups we have been meeting daily on weekdays with approx. 40-60 pastors for half-an-hour of prayer;
• Evangelical outreach: Faith based support helping the work in the Christian missions field;
• Pastoral Family Support: Supporting the personal needs of Pastors and their families;
• Children’ s programs: Supporting Vacation Bibles School programs;
• Teaching: Arranging seminars and organizing English lessons via Zoom
• Vegetable Gardening Support: Providing help in training key personnel, and supporting efforts to encourage home gardening.
I take this opportunity to thank foremost our generous donors who have so willingly contributed to all of our efforts. Thank you for believing in our mission and for being part of this very exciting journey towards improving the livelihood of the disadvantaged people.
We are excited to explore partnering with various other social service organizations with whom we share a common interest to create synergies. We are exploring partnerships with KRUPA, Northern Training Institute, and SUVADI, to extend their, as well as our reach into needy communities.
I am specially grateful to our very capable and dedicated prayer group leaders Rev. Esparan, Pas. George, and Pas. Sundar, as well as our part-time volunteers in Sri Lanka, led by our national coordinator Sis. Josephine Antony, Rohan, Hephzibah, and Zuriel, who have worked tirelessly in planning, directing, and successfully completing the ground work for our projects in Sri Lanka. We are hoping to expand our team in 2023 so we can reach more communities in need.
As we look ahead into 2023 we will hold firm to our mission of being an inspiration and a source of help to those in need by being a caring and dependable partner. We will continue to prioritize working with and through independent church pastors who have dedicated their lives for the betterment of the communities they serve. We are committed to being true to our calling to be the salt of the earth, knowing our labor in the Lord is never in vain. Thank you again for your prayers and support. And I hope you will join us in thanking God for showing us favor. May God bless you richly.
Yours truly,
John Naresh Aseerwatham Project CoordinatorBlessingHands@ligh601.com
