MEN’S CHRISTIAN GOLF LEAGUE 2014

SPECIAL NOTICE:

We are going to designate one winner for each division for the closest to the pin prize each week. This week, we play the back and Hole #12 will be for the B Division and Hole #16 will be for A Division. If we fail to have any winner for either division then we will designate a sleeve of balls to someone that has not won CTP this season. Good luck to all.

TEAM #B3 DENNY OBENAUER & KEN KELCHNER INCREASE THEIR LEAD OVER 2ND PLACE TEAM #B5 GARY CARR & DENNIS KOEHN BY 25 POINTS AS POSITION ROUND #2 TAKES PLACE TONIGHT FOR THE B FLIGHT TEAMS !!

Team #B7:Ernie Danos & Steve Fleck: Ernie was unable to make last weeks round and his bank round of (55) was used against his opponent. Steve Fleck continues to improve his game and comes into the clubhouse with a very nice round of (52). The first three holes hurt his round as he posted a quad followed by back to back doubles. He nailed a par on the first par three with a very nice putt. Hole number 6 cost him a double and hole number 8 added a triple.

He managed bogeys on #7 and #9. Nice round Steve. Steve finished with (1) par.

Team #B8: Bill Marsack & Ron Corfield: Bill continues to struggle to get back into the lower 40’s rounds as his last

four rounds have been in the upper half of the 40’s.Bill started with a double on the #1 handicap hole on the front.

After nailing a very nice par on the first par 5, Bill stumbled again posting a triple on the par 4, hole #3. Bill then seemed to get back into a groove, nailing pars on the first par 3, #4 and the 2nd par 5 to get his round back together. Hole number 6 gave him fits as he posted his second triple.

A bogey on 7 was followed by a very nice par on #8. The final hole bit him for a double. Still an nice round Bill. Bill finished with (4) pars. Nice effort Bill. Ron slipped a bit in his round last week, coming in two strokes worse than the previous week, posting a 65. His first three holes cost him 9 strokes, with a quad,

triple and double. He nailed a par on the 1st par three but then got stung on the second par 5. He added 6 strokes over the hole par. It didn’t get much easier on the #2 handicap hole as Ron added (5) more stokes to his card over the hole par. He finished with a quad on #7 followed by a double on 8 and triple on 9. A valiant effort by Ron. Ron did finish with (1) par. Good try Ron. Team #B1: Erv Rock & Jim Loughead: Jim posted one of his best rounds in week 8, coming in with a very nice 48. Jim started with a triple but nailed a par on the 2nd hole with some nice shooting. A double on #3 was followed by a very nice birdie on the first par 3.

KEN KELCHNER LEADS THE B FLIGHT PLAYERS INTO THE WATERING HOLE WITH A VERY NICE (41). BILL MARSACK COMES IN WITH THE NEXT BEST ROUND POSTING A (47). THREE PLAYERS POST ROUNDS OF 48 - BILLY ALESSANDRINI ~ JIM LOUGHEAD~ MATT ZUBER ~ TIM WEIGEL COMES IN WITH A 49 ~ GOOD JOB BY ALL!!

He added back to back doubles on 5 & 6. He finished with bogeys on 7 & 8 and final double on #9 for a very nice round. Jim nailed (1) par and (1) birdie in a good round. Erv dropped off one stroke in last weeks round. The opening two holes hurt him badly, adding 7 strokes to his score. A bogey on #4 was followed by a couple of disaster holes. He added 10 more strokes to his scorecard on #5 & 6. After a couple of doubles posted on 7 & 8, Erv got into more trouble on his final hole. Erv took an extra six shots to get that little white ball into the cup on #9 green. It was a valiant effort by Erv who

continues to try and get his rounds down into the upper 50’s.

Team #B2: Matt Zuber & Tim Weigel: Both players made significant improvements in their rounds from the previous week.

Matt knocked off three strokes coming in with a nice 48. His first three holes did major damage to his round, or he might have come in with much lower round.

His first three holes cost him 10 extra strokes. A double on 1, quad on 2 & 3. He really turned things around, notching a bogey on 4 and then starting his par run. He notched a par on the second par 5 and then tough number 6 hole to get on track. A bogey on #7 was followed by back to back pars to finish his round. Matt nailed (4) pars in a nice round. Nice shooting Matt.

Tim really came in with a very nice round of 49. Tim knocked off 8 strokes from week 7. Tim started with a double and added back to back bogeys on #2 & #3.

He put together back to back pars on #4 & 5. Three of the next four holes did the rest of the

damage to his round. A double on #6 was followed by a bogey on 7.

His final two holes cost him 6 more strokes. A double on 8 and quad on 9 did the balance of the damage.

Still a very nice improvement Tim. Tim finished with (2) pars. Great job Tim. Team #B3: Denny Obenauer & Ken Kelchner: Ken found a nice groove last week and comes into the 19th hole with the best round of the B flight posting a 5 over round of 41. Ken started slow, posting an opening double followed by a bogey on the first par 5. Then Ken got into a par rhythm as he nailed pars on his next 5 holes. He started with a par on #3 and finished on #7. His final two holes kept him from a under 40’s round as he posted back to back bogeys on 8 & 9. Ken notched (5) pars in a row. Great round Ken. Partner Denny makes it three straight rounds of 52. Denny took an opening double and nailed his first of two pars on the first par 5. A bogey turned up on #3 but the next three holes cost him a much better

round. A triple on 4, double on 5 and triple on 6 pretty much dictated his round. He posted a bogey on 7 and nailed his second par on #8. The final hole did the rest of the damage, costing Denny a quad. Denny finished with (2) pars. Good try Denny.

Team #4: Billy Alessandrini & Mark Dixon: Mark again was tied up at work and could not play in week 8. A bank round of (58) was used in his absence. Billy is taking lessons from the golf pro at Golden Hawk and it seems to be helping his rounds. Bill comes in with a 48 last week. The first hole started his round in the hole with an opening quad. After a par on #2, Bill took a double on #3. A bogey on four and then trouble cropped up again. Back to back doubles cost him four more strokes on the card. Billy did recover, posting a bogey on 7 and back to back pars to finish strong.

Good round Billy. Billy finished with (3) pars.

Team #5: Gary Carr & Dennis Koehn: Dennis was unable to make continued bottom left column

The round due to some family functions going on Thursday night. Gary did play and fell off a bit adding two more strokes from the previous weeks round.

The opening two holes did some major damage to his round right off the back. Five extra strokes on #1 and 3 extra strokes on #2. He seemed to recover some, posting back to back to back bogeys on #3, #4 & 5 to seem to get his round back in control. The double did not hurt as much as his last two did. Gary nailed a par on #7 before getting clipped hard by back to back triples on his final two holes. It was a valiant effort

by Gary who comes in with a 55, notching 1 par in his round.

Good effort Gary.

Team #6: Larry Ball & Norm Giraud: Larry Ball was out of town for the holidays and was unable to make it to golf. He used a (50) bank round to post

against his opponent. Norm was able to play and came in with a decent round of 54. This was also the score that won the mystery game last week. Norm started slow, posting an opening triple. He seemed to recover a bit as he nailed a par on the 1st par 5, hole #2. A bogey on 3 was followed by a double on 4. The second par 5 wasn’t as friendly to Norm as the first one was as he posted a double. Norm posted a bogey on the tough #6 hole but then got bit by his second double on par threes, posting this one on #7. The final two holes took his round down more, as he took a triple on 8 and quad on #9. Tough finish Norm.

Norm finished with (1) par. Good effort Norm.

TEAM #A4 CONTINUES TO PILE UP THE POINTS AS THEY INCREASE THEIR LEAD TO 31 POINTS OVER TEAM #A6 PASTOR WARREN HOOD & PASTOR JIM TURNER AS WE REACH THE HALF WAY POINT OF THE SEASON !!

Team #A7: Bill Gaunt & Steve Ciaramitaro: Bill continues to struggle some as he comes in with a 47 in week 8. The opening bogey did not hurt as much as the double on the first par 5.

Bill then made back to back bogeys before finding his second double, which happen to be on the second par 5. One final double on hole #6 and a par on #7. Bill finished with bogeys on his final two holes. Bill finished with (1) par. Good try Bill. Partner Steve rebounded from last weeks very disappointing round as he comes in with a 53, knocking off 9 strokes from his previous round. The opening two holes did some

major damage as he started with a quad on 1 and double on 2. Steve then seem to level out, notching bogeys on his next three holes, taking him to hole #6. There he proceeded to make a double. He made one more bogey before getting beat up on his final two holes. A triple on #8 and double on 9 to finish his round. A valiant effort and way to bring it down Steve.

Team #A8: Doug Busam & Nate Hood: Doug was unable to make the round due to work. A bank round of 55 was used to calculate his score against his opponent.

Nate was able to play and comes in with a 54 in his round in week 8.

Nate started his round with back to

back doubles. After a bogey on #3, Nate nailed a par on the first par three with some very nice putting. The second par 5 clipped him for his third double. Nate made a bogey on the 2nd hardest hole on the front, hole #6 before the final three holes took a toll on his round. He finished with a triple on #7, quad on #8 and triple on #9.

The final three holes cost him a chance for a round in the forties. A very nice try Nate. Nate finished with (1) par.

Team #A9: Brent Cymbalski & Ken Cymbalski: I think we had a new player playing for Brent last week because it did not seem like the same player that has been posting some very nice rounds up to last week. Brent continued below left column

comes in with a disappointing round of 47. Brent started with a double on the first hole and followed that with a bogey on the first par 5. One more bogey showed up on #3 and then it seemed like Brent got it back together. He nailed back to back pars on 4 & 5. Hole #6 got him for a bogey and then the bottom dropped out that destroyed what was left of his round. A triple on #7 and double on #8 before finishing with a bogey on #9. It was a very nice effort by Brent, who, finished with (2) pars. Good try Brent.

His father, Ken, continues to stay steady in his rounds, hovering around the low 50’s mark.

Ken comes in with a 53 in week 8. Ken started his round with doubles posted on his first four holes, putting him 8 over in his round. Ken posted a bogey on #5 before taking his first of two

Triples on hole #6. Ken notched his only par on hole #7. The final triple came on hole #8 and Ken did finish on a better note, posting a final bogey on #9. A valiant effort Ken. Ken notched (1) par in his round.

Team #A1: Stan Dreslinski & Ray Ressler: Stan seems like he is getting back into stroke a bit coming in with a 42 for a nice round. He played bogey golf for the first four holes of his round. He just could not get anything to drop. He then nailed his first par on the second par 5. He followed with a very nice par on the 2nd hardest hole on the front, #6 with a great putt to save a stroke.

He sandwiched a par on #8 between bogeys on 7 & 9. Stan finished with (3) pars. Nice shooting Stan. Ray finished his round with the same score as his partner, a decent round of 42. Ray started his round with an opening double and then added a bogey on the first par 5. Ray then nailed back to back

pars to get back on track. Again Ray found a little trouble on #5 and #6 with back to back bogeys. Holes #7 & #8 yielded two more pars and Ray finished with a disappoint bogey on #9.

Still a decent round as Ray posted (4) pars.

Team #A2: Andre Viger & Ken Huyghe: Andre was out of town for the holidays and a bank round of 40 was used in his absence. Ken showed up early and had a very nice round, coming in with a 3 over 39. Ken opened with a bogey and proceeded to nail a par on the first par 5. After another bogey on 3, Ken notched back to back pars on 4 & 5. Hole number 6 took an extra two shots as he posted his only double. He then finished strong, posting a par on #7 and a par on #8. Ken finished with a very nice birdie on #9 for his round of 39. Great shooting Ken. Ken finished with (5) pars and (1) birdie.

PAT ‘THE BIG EASY’ NELLIS LEADS ALL GOLFER INTO THE CLUBHOUSE IN THE A FLIGHT WITH A 1 OVER PAR [37]. SEVERAL NICE ROUNDS WERE POSTED BEHIND HIM: DOMINIC DERITA [38] ~BRIAN DERITA [39] KEN HUYGHE [39] WAYNE DAVIDSON [40] ~~HONORABLE MENTION TO: WARREN HOOD , STAN DRESLINSKI & RAY RESSLER (42) RUSTY ELLISON (44) & CORY ROUTHEAUX (45) NICE JOB BY ALL!!

Team #A3: Wayne Davidson & Rusty Ellison: Wayne seemed to come out of his shell last week and posted his best round of the season as he came in with a 4 over 40.

Wayne started slow posting an opening bogey followed by a double on the first par 5. He got hot on his next three holes as he nailed back to back pars on 3 & 4 and drained a birdie putt on 5. Then is back and forth with bogey-par run on his final four holes. Wayne notched pars Dom finished with a bogey on #9. Dom finished his round with (5) pars and (1) birdie. Great shooting Dom. Team #A5: Pat Nellis & Cory Routheaux: Pat led all golfers into the clubhouse with the best round of the night, a 1 over 37.

Pat started with pars on the 1st and 2nd holes to get off to a very nice start. After a bogey on #3, Pat notched a par on 4 and nailed a birdie on #5 after just missing an eagle on the hole.

One more bogey and then three straight pars to close out a fine round. Pat finished with (6) pars and a birdie. Great round Par. Cory posted his second 45 round of the season. A bogey started his round but he put back to back pars together on holes #2 & 3. Cory made back to back bogeys before getting

On 7 & 9 posting bogeys on 6 & 8.

Wayne finished with (4) pars and (1) birdie. Very nice round Wayne.

Rusty continues to stay in the lower forties as well. Rusty posted four straight bogeys before finding a very nice par on the second par 5 and added another par on the tough #6 hole. He finished on a sour note, posting bogeys on 7 & 9 with a double posted on #8. Rusty comes in with a 44 posting (2) pars in his round. Nice shooting Rusty.

Team #A4: Brian DeRita & Dom DeRita: Both players posted rounds

Stung by a double on #6.Cory finished with two bogeys and a double on his final three holes. Cory notched (2) pars in a decent round.

Nice effort Cory.

Team #A6: Warren Hood & Jim Turner: Warren followed last weeks round of 39 with a decent round of 42 in week 8. Warren started with a very nice par but got clipped by a double on #2. A bogey on hole #3 was followed with a par on 4 and birdie on 5. Hole number 6 stuck him with his second double. Warren finished his round with two bogeys and a par on #8. Nice shooting Warren. Pastor Hood posted (3) pars and (1) birdie. Jim Turner slipped by a stroke in week 8 coming in with a 46. Pastor Turner posted bogeys on his first two holes before notching a par on #3. It was back to bogeys again as he made

Under 40 last week. After a bogey on #1, Brian nailed four straight pars. He got nipped by a double on #6 but followed with a par on #7. He reduced a stroke off his score nailing a birdie on #8. Brian finished with a bogey on #9.

Brian notched (5) pars and (1) birdie in his round of 39. Dom came in with a round, one stroke better than Dad. Dom was hot right out of the gate. Pars were posted on 1 & 2, a birdie nailed on #3 and pars on 4 & 5 before he faltered. He notched bogeys on 6 & 7 and made one more par in #8.

Continued bottom left column two more, posting them on 4 & 5.

Hole number 6 cost him a double like so many other players in week 8 rounds. Jim found one more par, this time on the par three 7th. Jim finished on a poor note, making a bogey on 8 but finished with a triple on 9. Jim finished with (2) pars. Good effort Pastor Turner.
