THE NEWCOMERS ~ GARY CARR & DENNIS KOEHN MOVE INTO FIRST PLACE WITH DENNY OBENAUER & KEN KELCHNER JUMPING 5 SPOTS TO MOVE INTO 2ND PLACE !!

Team #B1: Erv Rock ( 69)& Jim Loughead (55): Erv had a rough start on hole #1 as it cost him 5 extra strokes. He came into the clubhouse with the same score as week 1. He made a slight recovery posting a bogey on the par 5. He struggled the rest of the way in his round with several quads and triples. Erv finished with a 69. Coach ‘Jim’ knocked off a few strokes from last weeks round coming in with a 55. The first three holes did the most damage with two triples and a quad. Jim pars on the 1st par 5 and his second par on hole #6.

Ken finished his round with bogeys on the final three holes for his 45. Nice shooting Ken. Denny and Ken take a whopping 45 points to vault into second place.

posted four bogeys in his round but was unable to notch any pars. A valiant effort by both players in only our second week of competition. The team is currently holding on to 5th place.

Team #B2: Tim Weigel (59) & Matt Zuber (Bk 43): Tim feel off a bit from last weeks round posting a 59 in week 2. The opening two holes cost him an extra 7 strokes that he did not recovery very well from. He strung doubles together in three of his next four holes. The final two holes did the balance of the damage with a triple followed by 5 extra strokes on #9. Good effort Tim. Matt Zuber was absent and a bank round of 43 was used.

Mark faired better as he knocked off 5 strokes from the previous weeks round, coming in with a 53. Mark got on a doubles train posting them on the first three holes of his round. Unfortunately, he broke up the doubles run with a triple going the wrong way in Team #B4: Billy Alessanstrokes. He posted a bogey on drini (58) & Mark Dixon #5 and nailed a par on #6 (53): Billy had a devastatwhich is the 2nd toughest hole ing start to his round as he on the front. Team #B3: Denny Obenauer (50) & Ken Kelchner (45): Denny made some significant improvements in his game in week 2, knocking off 3 strokes from week 1. Denny stuck 4 bogeys in between triples on holes # 1 & 6. He finished with back to back bogeys but got stung by a final double on #9. Still a very nice round Denny. Ken led all golfers in the B division into the clubhouse with the best round, notching a 45.

Ken started with a double on 1 added his second double on #3. Ken posted Continued bottom left

1. The first two holes cost him 9 strokes. He added doubles on #4 & #5 and took a triple on #6. He posted a couple of bogeys I n his round. The final two holes did the balance of the damage as he finished with a 59.

Dennis got off to a poor start on #1 with a triple but recovered well. He played bogey golf for the next 5 holes to help his round. He notched his only par on hole #7 before finishing with back to back bogeys on 8 & 9.

Dennis knocked off 10 strokes (shooting a 46) from week 1 and gets honorable mention for his round. Nice shooting Dennis and good effort Gary.

KEN KELCHNER FROM TEAM B3 (B DIVISION) LED ALL GOLFERS INTO THE CLUBHOUSE WITH A ROUND OF 45 IN WEEK TWO OF THE COMPETITION !!

Team #B6: Larry Ball (59) & Norm Giraud (63): Larry fell off his first weeks round coming into the clubhouse with a 59, 7 strokes worse.

Larry squashed a bogey between a triple on #1 and a double on #3. His next three holes took a large toll on his round. He posted a double, quad and triple costing him 9 additional strokes on the card. The positive side of his round was on #7 as he stuck a shot near the pin to take one of the closest to pin awards. His final two holes

Did the balance of the damage as he posted back to back quads.

Larry notched (1) par in his round.

We welcome another new player to the MCGL family, Norm Giraud, who will team up with Larry. Norm relayed that he hasn’t played in years so this would be a learning year for him to get back into a golf groove. Norm comes in with a 63 in his opening round. The opening three holes pretty much dictated a tough round for him. He opened with back to back doubles followed by back to back triples. He added quads on #5 & #6 . The double seemed like a relief and he

Team #B7: Ernie Danos (bank round of 56) & Steve Fleck (66): Ernie has been sporting some soreness in his body and was unable to make the league night. His bank round was used to match up against his opponent. Meanwhile, Steve Fleck was able to play and had a Continued left column

THE DERITA’S IN THE ‘A’ FLIGHT POUND THEIR OPPONENTS TAKING 44 OF 52 POINTS IN WEEK 2 TO MAINTAIN 1ST PLACE !!

Team #A1: Stan Dreslinski (47) & Ray Ressler (41): Stan started out with back to back bogeys and then nailed his only par of the round. He bogeyed his way through holes 4 & 5 and added a double on #6. Two final bogeys were followed by a triple on the 9th hole and a round of 47. Stan finished with (1) par.

Team #A3: Wayne Davidson (49) & Rusty Ellison (48): Wayne had his struggles in week 2 after a very respectable round in week one as he went up 7 strokes in week 2, posting a 49. The good thing with his score was that he shared the mystery score win with Bill Marsack. Wayne posted bogeys on 4 of the first five holes. He notched a par on #3. A double was posted on #6 as Wayne

added a par on #7. The bogey on 8 was followed by an almost tin cup moment as Wayne found the water on #9 several times. He finished with 6 extra strokes on the hole. Rusty at least dropped off one stroke from last week, coming in with a 48. He started with bogey son #1 & #2 and was clipped by a double on #3. Another bogey on #4 was followed by a triple on the second par 5. He

seemed to recover some as he made a couple of bogeys but finished with a solid par on #9. A very nice effort to both players in week 2.

A good try by Ken, who I know will rebound from this disappointing round.

Team #A4: Brian DeRita (40) & Dominic DeRita (42): Both Brian & Dom played exceptionally well and took a lot of points to increase their lead by 33 points over 2nd place Wayne & Rusty. Brian posted a par on #2 between continued on bottom left

BRIAN DERITA LEADS ALL GOLFERS INTO THE CLUBHOUSE POSTING THE BEST ROUND OF THE NIGHT ~ A FOUR OVER 40 ON THE FRONT NINE!!

Team #A6: Pastor Warren Hood (50) & Pastor Jim Turner (52): Pastor continues to struggle to get back into the lower 40’s as he came in with a round of 50. The first hole and last hole added 6 extra strokes, as he posted triples. Add four more extra strokes for doubles on both par three’s and the round was sabotaged by four holes. The middle holes saw bogeys as Pastor Hood was unable to find any pars in his round. Pastor Turner had the same type of trouble in his round as he too opened and closed his round with triples. He posted the balance of the holes with bogeys, except hole #6,

As he made a double. It was a valiant effort by both players who I am expecting some nice rounds in the coming weeks.

Note: After much debate, it was decided by the rules committee last week that we would take our handicaps at 100% and play against the course when we had a bye.

Doug opened with a bogey but things went south quickly as he posted a triple on #2 and #4 sticking in a double on #3. After a bogey on #5, Doug took a quad and his second triple on a par three. He did seem to recover a bit, posting bogeys on his final two holes, but was unable to post any pars in his round. Nate also got off to a very
