MAKE-UP FOR PROSTHETICS This course is designed to introduce the student to the procedures of life casting, mold making techniques, sculpting, creating gelatin appliances and gelatin prosthetic application. Students will acquire valuable theory and will actively participate in conception, creation and completion of a gelatin appliance for make-up purposes. The student will create a flesh-toned character for their portfolio. COURSE OBJECTIVES • • • • • • • • • • • •

Learning about the materials and tools required for life casting and prosthetic application Understanding the anatomy of the human face for character design Having knowledge of the safety and health factors when working with prosthetics Doing a comprehensive life cast of the face to the neck Correctly preparing the model for prosthetic application Preparing detailed character charts Learning and applying the techniques used in pouring the gelatin molds Making gelatin prosthetics correctly Applying gelatin appliances to the model correctly Properly painting the appliance once it is attached to the model to create a flesh tone character Removing the appliance with proper techniques Preparing and executing a final character for a photo shoot
