What keeps us going? What keeps us creative and full of energy? Or in other words, what keeps us burning ? Thinking about new products makes us happy and keep us going and inspired. At Home Society we think that products that customers recurrently buy, are of great value for the retailer. For instance candles “get used up” and customers always come back for more. For over more than 21 years we have distributed Bridgewater Candles. The constant success is due to its high quality and constant renewal of new fragrances and product ranges. The Bridgewater Candles have established a solid customer base. In short, we learned that candles SELL! By selling our Home Society pillar candles for a number of years and because of the great success we developed the petite candles last year. Who would have thought that these petite candles would become the most favourite item for our retailers and the end consumer! Talking about recurrent buys! For this spring we are introducing more different candle sizes and have added some vibrant colours to our Home Society candle collection. Three sizes of the new slim pillar candles and in addition some nice bamboo torches and outdoor candles in glass for upcoming summer. In the meantime we are working on a new exciting Home Society candle concept for AW2020. You will read more about that in the next magazine! I want to thank you for your support and loyalty in the past years . We keep on striving to offer great products and service in the next millennium. Let’s keep the fire burning. Lieber Besucher, was treibt uns an? Wie bleiben wir kreativ und voller Energie? Oder mit anderen Worten: Wie bewahren wir unser Feuer? Uns neue Produkte auszudenken, macht uns Freude, hält uns auf Trab und inspiriert uns. Wir bei Home Society glauben, dass Produkte, die Kunden immer wieder kaufen, für den Händler von großem Wert sind. Kerzen zum Beispiel werden aufgebraucht und Kunden kehren stets zurück, um Nachschub zu kaufen. Seit mehr als 21 Jahren vertreiben wir Bridgewater-Kerzen. Aufgrund ihrer Qualität, der immer wieder neuen Düfte und ihres Sortiments sind sie ein beständiger Erfolg. Bridgewater-Kerzen erfreuen sich eines soliden Kundenstamms. Kurz gesagt, haben wir festgestellt, dass Kerzen sich gut verkaufen! Da wir seit mehreren Jahren mit viel Erfolg unsere Home Society Stumpenkerzen verkaufen, haben wir letztes Jahr die Petite-Kerze entwickelt. Wer hätte gedacht, dass diese Petite-Kerzen zum Lieblingsobjekt unserer Einzelhändler und Endverbraucher wird! So viel zu Wiederholungskäufen! Für diesen Frühling haben wir unsere Home Society-Kollektion um ein paar weitere Kerzen in verschiedenen Größen und leuchtenden Farben erweitert: die neuen schmalen Stumpenkerzen in drei Größen und ein paar schöne Bambusfackeln und Outdoorkerzen im Glas für den kommenden Sommer. In der Zwischenzeit arbeiten wir an einem neuen, aufregenden Home Society Kerzenkonzept für die Herbst/ Winter-Saison 2020. In der nächsten Ausgabe berichten wir Ihnen mehr davon! Ich möchte mich bei Ihnen für Ihre Treue und Unterstützung in den vergangenen Jahren danken. CHINOISERIE
You know it when you see it, the upcoming trend of interior design: Chinoiserie. It is the translation of Chinse motifs, pavilions, florals, beautiful birds and nature designs applied on textiles and funiture. If you haven’t used this trend before in your interior, look to adding a Chinoiserie wall deco, bamboo print floormat or rattan lamp to your home decor. Der aufkommende Trend der Innendekoration mit hohem Wiedererkennungswert: Chinoiserie - ein Begriff für chinesische Motive, Pavillons, Blumen, wunderschöne Vögel und Naturdesigns, die auf Textilien und Möbeln angebracht werden. Falls dieser Trend bisher noch nicht Teil Ihres Interieurs war, sollten Sie unbedingt eine Chinoiserie-Wanddekoration, eine Fußmatte mit Bambusdruck oder eine Rattanlampe zu Ihrer Inneneinrichtung hinzufügen.

Leafs and gold are still running as a major trends for 2020. There are so many ways to incorporate trends into your interior, because leafs comes in beautiful different variations. Some are more bold and full, while others have much more detailed features in them. To us, leaf patterns with a golden finish brings us instantly to thoughts of warm, tropical weather. Behind The Scenes A little China in my home. My love for China is absolutely nourished by my beautiful Chinese daughter and the fact that I go there several times a year to put together the most beautiful collections, but also because a little Chinoiserie style has been a common thread in our home for years. Chinoiserie is a European, French art movement from the 18th century, a style inspired by art and design from China. The word Chinoiserie is a similar French translation of what can be referred to in English as “Chinese-like”. In the interior you think of antique cupboards, bamboo chairs and prints of fantastic birds, flowers and pavilions, or the beautiful Delft blue, where Asian motifs proved to be a great source of inspiration to paint porcelain. I scour the thrift shops with some regularity and sometimes find the most beautiful Chinoiserie treasures; a series of plates for on the wall, an old blue bowl, a funny candlestick. And enjoy it when my treasures shine in my house, because this trend goes very well with a Scandinavian interior. For a little Chinoiserie in your home you can easily style a nice corner with some Asian elements. For example, think of a hip cranebird that is also seen as a lucky symbol. Just like the other animal trends, the cranebird remains a popular element in the interior for a while. You may also be ready for a new paint on the wall because, according to the Pantone color institute, the color of the year 2020 will be Classic Blue, so of course I no longer have to explain why blue is such a timeless color! Meine Liebe zu China wird absolut genährt durch meine schöne chinesische Tochter und die Tatsache, dass ich dort ein paar Mal im Jahr die schönsten Kollektionen zusammenzustelle, aber auch, weil sich ein etwas von der Chinoiserie geprägter Einrichtungsstil schon seit Jahren wie ein roter Faden durch unser Haus zieht. Die Chinoiserie ist eine europäische, französische Kunstbewegung aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, ein Stil, der von Kunst und Design aus China inspiriert wurde. Das Wort Chinoiserie ist eine ähnliche französische Übersetzung dessen, was man im Englischen als “chinesisch anmutend “ bezeichnen kann. Bei der Inneneinrichtung denkt man an antike Schränke, Bambusstühle und Drucke von fantastischen Vögeln, Blumen und Pavillons oder an das schöne Delfter Blau, wo sich asiatische Motive als große Inspirationsquelle für die Porzellanmalerei erwiesen haben. Ich durchstöbere in regelmäßigen Abständen den Kringloop (ein niederländisches SecondhandGeschäft) und finde dort manchmal die schönsten Schätze der Chinoiserie: eine Reihe von Tellern zur Wanddekoration, eine alte blaue Schale, einen außergewöhnlichen Kerzenleuchter. Und ich genieße den herrlichen Glanz, den sie in meinem Haus ausstrahlen. Denn dieser Trend passt sehr gut zu einer skandinavischen Einrichtung. Für etwas Chinoiserie in Ihrem Haus können Sie leicht eine schöne Ecke mit asiatischen Elementen gestalten. Denken Sie zum Beispiel an einen trendigen Kranich, der auch als Glückssymbol verehrt wird. Der Kranich bleibt übrigens, genau wie die anderen Tiertrends auch, noch eine Zeit lang ein beliebtes Element der Inneneinrichtung. Vielleicht spielen Sie auch schon mit dem Gedanken, Ihren Wänden einen neuen Farbanstrich zu verleihen, denn laut dem Farbinstitut Pantone ist Classic Blue die Farbe des Jahres 2020. Ich muss Ihnen nun natürlich nicht mehr erklären, warum diese Farbe so zeitlos ist!

Hard working mom I am a single mother of 3 beautiful children, 2 of my children have left the nest but my youngest daughter of 16 still lives at home. I also have 2 stubborn dachshunds. How it all started After I finished school at the MTS in Schoonhoven in wich I mayored as a goldsmiths and an engraver, I started a goldsmith & jewelry shop in Grave. After 7 years I decided it was time for someting new and I started my carreer in the same line of business but as a Sales Manager for various jewelry brands. Wie alles begann Nach Abschluss der MTS Fachschule Schoonhoven mit Schwerpunkt Goldschmiedehandwerk und Gravur eröffnete ich mein eigenes Goldschmiede- und Schmuckgeschäft in Grave. Nach sieben Jahren beschloss ich, dass es Zeit für etwas Neues war und nahm meine Karriere in derselben Branche auf - nun jedoch als Verkaufsleiterin für diverse Schmuckmarken.

Itch But after a few years it started to itch again and I happened to see a very nice little vacant store in my hometown in Grave. So I took a chance and plunged into the deed and started my own business again, in combination with my job in a jewelry gift shop. After one and a half year I needed more time for my own store and decided to quit my work at the jewelry shop. I hired my colleague Marja and together we went full throttle. Tatendrang Doch nach ein paar Jahren ersuchte mich der Tatendrang von neuem und ich kam zufällig an einem schönen, kleinen, leerstehenden Laden in meiner Heimatstadt Grave vorbei. Also packte ich die Gelegenheit beim Schopf, machte mich an die Arbeit und eröffnete wieder ein eigenes Geschäft. Nebenbei behielt ich meine Stelle in einem Schmuck- und Geschenkeladen. Nach eineinhalb Jahren brauchte ich mehr Zeit für mein eigenes Geschäft und entsch-
ied mich, meine Stelle im Schmuckladen aufzugeben. Ich stellte meine Mitarbeiterin Marja ein und gemeinsam gaben wir Vollgas. Stand in line please The store was a succes and more and more customers found their way to our store. I remember that at times our customers had to wait outside in line! Amazing times you can imagine! So it was time to broaden our horizon and we started to look for a new place. We found this former bank building in the center of town. We now run the store with 3 other colleagues with great pleasure. Bitte anstellen Das Geschäft war ein voller Erfolg und immer mehr Kunden fanden den Weg zu uns. Ich erinnere mich daran, dass unsere Kunden manchmal bis nach draußen Schlage standen! So wurde es Zeit, dass wir unseren Horizont erweiterten und nach einem neuen Standort Ausschau hielten. Wir fanden dieses ehemalige Bankgebäude im Stadtzentrum. Jetzt führen wir das Geschäft mit drei weiteren Mitarbeitern und viel Freude.

Give Your Wick A Trim Keep the wick nice and trimmed up. Wicks need to be kept at a healthy 0,5 cm length and should be trimmed prior to every burn, including the first one. Long wicks can split and drop debris into the wax. A shorter wick means a better wax pool, which means a better burn. We suggest trimming the wick every 4 hours of burn time. Always extinguish the flame, let the candle cool down and trim the wick before relighting.

Make That Pool Wide Each time you burn your candle allow the entire top layer to become a fragrant pool of liquid wax up to the glass and you'll get the best scent possible. It’s important to let the wax pool reach all the way to the edge of the container. This prevents tunneling and wax waste. Candle jars typically need to burn for 4-6 hours at a time.

Keep Things Even & Safe Always keep your burning candle on an even, heat resistant, and sturdy surface. Never burn your candle near anything that can catch fire, keep it out of drafts and keep them out of reach of kids and pets. Never leave it unattended while lit. Use the lid of the jar as a coaster to protect the surface of getting to hot or damaged.

Know When To Stop When there is approximately 1,5 cm of wax left in the bottom of your candle it’s time to stop burning. It’s okay for there to be some wax left over, candles are created with this little buffer of wax. When candles are burned below this level the container can get hot and burn you or the surface your candle is sitting on.

Halte den Docht kurz Halten Sie den Docht schön kurz. Die Kerze brennt am besten, wenn der Docht circa 0,5 cm lang ist. Auch sollte der Docht jedes Mal vor dem Anzünden kurz geschnitten werden, inklusive das erste Mal. Wenn der Docht zu lang ist, wäre es möglich, dass Schutt in das Kerzenwachs hinein stürzt. Ein kurzer Docht bedeutet mehr flüssiges Wachs, was ein besseres Brennen bedeutet. Wir empfehlen, den Docht jede 4 Brennstunden abzuschneiden. Machen Sie immer zuerst die Kerze aus, lassen Sie die Kerze ein bisschen abkühlen und schneiden Sie den Docht ab.

Der Brennschüssel vergrößern Es ist wichtig, dass jedes Mal wenn die Kerze brennt, die komplette oberste Wachsschicht flüssig wird, damit der Duft optimal zurecht kommen kann. Lassen Sie den Brennschüssel bis zum Glas kommen, damit die Kerze gut brennt und das Wachs schön nach unten brennt. Kerzen brennen am besten bei circa 4-6 Stunden.

Kerzen zuversichtlich brennen Stellen Sie Ihre Kerze immer irgendwo hin mit einer stabilen Oberfläche, die hitzebeständig ist. Achten Sie auch darauf, dass keine brennbaren Sachen sich in der Nähe befinden und die Kerze soll unerreichbar für Kinder und Haustiere sein. Bleiben Sie immer im selben Raum. Verwenden Sie den Deckel vom Jar als Untersatz, um der Oberfläche vor Hitze oder Beschädigung zu schützen.

Wann man nicht mehr anzünden soll Wenn nur noch circa 1,5 cm Kerzenwachs übrig ist, empfehlen wir die Kerze nicht mehr zu brennen. Es ist prima, wenn ein bisschen Wachs übrig bleibt: Kerzen sind absichtlich so hergestellt, dass ein bisschen Wachs zurückbleibt. Wenn die Kerze dann doch angezündet wird, wird das Glas zu heiß und können Sie sich verletzen oder die Oberfläche, auf der die Kerze steht, kann beschädigt werden.
