WHAT IS LOCKOUT/TAGOUT?

WHO NEEDS LOCKOUT/TAGOUT?

Lockout/Tagout is an essential safety procedure that involves shutting off the energy sources to industrial machines or equipment prior to maintenance or repair.

Thousands of accidents occur while repairing or servicing equipment. Most of those accidents are due to energy sources that have not been isolated. Therefore, identification of the equipment’s potential hazard is essential for a successful isolation procedure.

The procedure protects employees from risks caused by energy sources. Used properly in conjunction with a wellplanned lockout process, the safety padlock helps ensure that employees will not inadvertently activate a piece of equipment while someone else is working on it.

KEY SYSTEMS & KEY CHARTING (1)Determine the number of employees that you will want to use this system. Take into account future growth at your facility. Each employee should have a unique key code that is theirs alone.

KEY CHARTING & SITE REGISTRATION To ensure there are no unwanted duplications of keys, Master Lock recommends all safety padlocks are 1 employee – 1 padlock – 1 key.

As the number of locks increase, so does the complexity of tracking keys. Master Lock is the expert at managing key changes and can keep a complete record of the progressive key codes assigned and manufactured for your site.

Key charting is recommended for large end users or end users concerned about key code duplication. With a key charted safety lockout system, orders will be registered with the Master Lock Key Charting System and will be assigned key codes to avoid the danger of key duplications.

Locks are built ex-factory.

CONFINED SPACE CONTROL COVERS Confined Space Control Covers (CSCC) fit most size entry and egress points on man-ways, heater doors, nozzles, broken pipe work and vessel skirts. The lockable and adjustable CSCC is fitted over the existing flange and is secured by installing a Master Lock safety padlock, giving plant safety personnel 100% control of the confined space.
