n the second day of celebrating St Vincent’s Academy’s 40th founding anniversary, January 31, Mr and Ms SVA takes place, the most awaited pageant in the entire school year.
With a total of 27 candidates, 16 female and 11 male a total of 16 candidates successfully bagged a title.
Title of Mr. and Ms. SVA 2025 was secured by male candidate number 11, Cyril Manlapaz and female candidate number six, Gilean Tolentino.
Mr. and Ms. Young 2025 was achieved by male candidate number six, James San Andres and female candidate number 14, Niena Nabong.
With this, the former Mr. and Ms. SVA Jervin Reyes and Edrina Silvestre and former Mr. and Ms. Young Qern Viray and Jhanella
Prudenciado, performed their last ramp and shared their words of appreciation, as they officially crown the new Mr and Ms SVA and Mr and Ms Young SVA 2025.
Other awards include: Mr. & Ms. Servicio won by male candidate number nine and female candidate number 16. Mr. & Ms. Voccasion obtained by male candidate number seven and female candidate number five, Mr. & Ms. Accion, attained by male candidate number one and female candidate number seven and the runner ups.
This year, a great milestone was accomplished by SVA for achieving 40 years, hence their theme “An Education FORtress Through the Years”.

eing a champion means a lot Many challenges, hindrances, and struggles to become a champion of your own Failing is not on the vocabulary of many Pushing themselves out to become the best of them Not considering one's health just to give their best out of the rest However, hindrances are anywhere they are inevitable But somehow at some point, they got to overcome those How do they handle it? How do they become a champion when there are challenges? Let's learn about it.
The group of boys are trying out for the upcoming Intramurals of their school. Preparing one week before the try out Giving the best out of them even there are hindrances A lot of struggles are slowly reaching them, there are injuries occurring, tiring days, sleepless nights thinking if they got to pass the try out, and a lot of misunderstanding with the other players. Fortunately, they got to overcome these challenges and got into the line of players for the Intramurals. After that, they got training again and the struggles are there again. The difficulty of balancing their academics over the training Thinking if they could balance their learnings to training. The day passed by as the Intramurals week gear up.
Players are well prepared for the game. Physically prepared, protective gears are prepared and the skills are well prepared. The match started and it was a good game start as their team is leading the match Starting from the 1st to 3rd quarter, their team is leading. But for some reason, their opponent is slowly approaching the comeback of their team The group of boys didn't give up and still hope that they going to beat their opponents. Luckily they won the match and were so happy that they jumped because of joy.
After weeks of Intramurals, the South Zone Athletic Meet approached Many students try out for the upcoming South Zone. Students prepared well for the try out, hoping they got into the line of players The group of boys tried out as well, they got into the line, but unfortunately the others did not The other boys that didn't get accepted are sad, thinking they should be the one in there because they know they deserve to be there– competing with other schools. They keep ranting about it, as they see their other team that is training for the match Feeling envious, insecure of their own skills, questioning their worth, and overthinking the things that what if they are there too These things come into their mind, but they need to accept it.
As I wrote the short story, I did not get to tell the reasons on how they handle it. But really, how? Simply by not losing hope, trying their very best and their best source of hope God. Everyone of us are all trying, we are all not natural on our own We keep trying and trying until we reach our goals and dreams. All of us are facing challenges before we become a champion Even if the failure is there, as I said in the story, the other boys didn't get to accept the players of South Zone They are still a champion of themselves. As long as we try our best, we are champions No one can tell us that we fail just because we do. Failure means that you are trying. Even the most famous player and known as the best player got to experience failing And that is what we called home of the champions St Vincent’s Academy is where the champions are made. Behind all of this, we can still be champions of our own, and no one has the right to invalidate that because as long as we look at the good side, we can say that we are champions

Academic pressure is an issue that impacts students' mental and emotional well-being. Recognizing the various sources of this pressure, such as family expectations, peer pressure, and personal drive, is crucial in addressing the problem. It is a will to do better than to feel better.

Have you found your answer?
I have achieved since I could talk I’ve always been an academic achiever, an overachiever In kindergarten, I delivered a speech because I was the valedictorian, and I was also valedictorian in our elementary graduation This caused people to have really high expectations when it came to me I was “little miss perfect ” I was known for being smart, bright, knowledgeable, and having high and perfect grades Until now, I continue to try to keep up with what my kindergartener self started It has started to become challenging. It came to a point where I started to doubt myself. Can I really do it? What if I’m exerting all of this effort just to end up being nothing in the future? I mean, who even am I without my academic achievements? My achievements are the only thing I’m known for; it has always felt like my grades molded my identity and defined who I was as a person, or so I thought.
As I grew, I realized that the world is huge. It does not stop moving when you fall, or when you lose your honor title, or even when you stop achieving. We were created to be something. We all have a purpose and an obligation That purpose is neither just achieving nor thriving, but that purpose is to make a change, a really good one
Moreover, we are a different person to different people In school, I am an overachiever, a leader, and to some schoolmates I am a really knowledgeable and bright girl At home, I am a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, an aunt, someone you can trust with the chores or someone you can ask for help with At church, I am a singer, a joyful and a polite girl To other people, I am their friend, best friend, rant buddy, a beam of light, a source of hope, a shoulder they could lean on, an inspiration, or maybe even a therapist This may lead you to wonder “what is the connection of this to academic achievements and being an academic achiever?” This information is connected to academic achievements and being an academic achiever because that is my answer; that is who I am without my academic achievements I am a servant of God, a person with hopes and dreams, a daughter, a granddaughter, a good friend, a best friend, a singer, a girl they did taekwondo with, a helpful person, a beam of light, a source of hope, an inspiration. I do not have to thrive in academics just to make a change, or just to be known. My worth is not measured by a number on a piece of paper. I just have to be me, and accept who I am. atatag Curriculum was founded and introduced under the leadership of the current Vice Ppresident of the Philippines, Sara Duterte This curriculum started on school year 2024-2025. Matatag Curriculum was implemented as a new way of improving students by focusing on various things that will help improve skills.
The K to 12 curriculum was the curriculum before Matatag. K to 12 Basic Education curriculum was a lot more easier than the Matatag Curriculum. Because Matatag Curriculum required students to learn a much of a wider range of skills to different subjects. The implementation of this curriculum was a challenge to many students that lead a lot of students complaining of how much harder this curriculum is than the previous ones Many students have been struggling to keep up with the new way of learning that Matatag Curriculum is currently implementing. They believe that Matatag Curriculum is just an additional stress and exhaustion for students, that are causing them to have problems with their mental health. With eight subjects per day with an allotted time of forty five minutes per subject, different performance tasks and a lot of homeworks after class, is draining for students every single day

Students these days are getting drained, tired and stressed out because of Matatag Curriculum. Rest is already not the word itself for students, because of the exhaustion that this curriculum brings.

ave you ever used a calculator? They can answer most mathematical equations with ease and speed. You may have thought to yourself how smart it is But in reality, all it does is follow a set of rules and orders. So, what if there is a technology that can think on its own? Is there a program that can think, learn, and develop by themselves like a human? Meet Artificial Intelligence, or AI in short.
AIs are programs that can learn with data, and do their assigned work using it, without having to be reprogrammed every time. Believe it or not, AI is used almost everywhere AI is not just those sentient robots we see in movies, any program or machine that can work out with data and learn with it is AI. There are several uses of AI, which includes, but is not limited to, search engines like Google; recommendations like on YouTube; “AI assistants” like Siri; and superhuman strategizing like chess bots.
Like said earlier, AI works with data and does whatever they are assigned to do with it, but unlike most programs, which have their logics hardcoded, AI “learns” Before an AI is actually used, they start out as “babies”, then, they are taught things, much like how a student learns in school For example, an AI
made to distinguish objects will be taught the differences between an apple and an orange, an eagle and a fish, or red and green This will go on until the AI can easily identify those things without error, where they can finally be used. Now, whenever the AI is asked which is which, the AI will be able to distinguish the items and can give out the correct answer. Remember, AI will not be correct the first time, they will guess. But as more information is fed to them, the better they get.
AI, no matter how smart they are, are just glorified networks of logic, much like a simple calculator The difference is that most programs have hardcoded logic and expect exact data If you give out invalid data, like an incorrect mathematical syntax, it throws out an error AI on the other hand, can handle incomplete information and still run with it using data it had obtained in the past via learning or probability, all without their source code being reprogrammed every time. If you think about it, AI is similar to a human. We are born with only the hardcoded actions in our brain. As we grow, we learn how to walk and talk from the other people around us, we go to school to obtain information and use them in everyday situations, such as adding or subtracting things or reading and writing Whenever problems are thrown at us, we use the wisdom and knowledge given to us that we learned in the past to try and solve it

AI, like stated earlier, has many uses that can help us It has been a part of the internet for a long time, like search engines or personalized feeds. But it can also help us with other things. AI is used for security, navigation, prediction, research, and many more. But AI is not limited to exciting processes Many AIs are used to do certain, repetitive tasks. Many business websites have an AI helper to help customers who have questions like how the site works without needing a human on the other end.
AI is with us everyday, and they will get smarter as time goes on While they give us advantages, there are still major flaws we have to fix. At the end of the day, AI is and will always be just a bunch of logical connections on a neural network like an artificial brain, and they will not be going all sentient anytime soon
AI sure is useful, but with great advantage comes with a cost. AI development has been somewhat controversial with the sources they are being fed. AI only relies on this information and never does factchecking themselves, leading to misinformation if they are given one Additionally, many sources have some form of bias, and the AI may adapt this biased view if they are given a biased piece of information. Pure AI also does not have any morals either There was an incident where an image-cropping AI prioritized people based on their color, which is discrimination. There is also plagiarism and copyright, which has been a problem with artists and their art being used by AI without any permission AI also has an environmental impact too, as they use tons of electricity to power and train the AI, and have significant carbon footprints.
