Born in Glasgow. Loved nationwide. United by food.

It all started with two guys from Glasgow who shared a love of good times and great food. Inspired by their desire to find better ways to do things, they set about putting the best bits of their favourite QSR brands together, with one aim: Great food for good, honest, hard-working people - just like them!

And so Black Rooster was born in Duke Street, Glasgow, in 2017.

Fast forward 7 years and Black Rooster is now the largest and fastest-growing QSR franchise business to come out of Scotland; with 19 highly profitable stores currently in operation across Scotland and several more in the pipeline for 2024.

The quality of our food has remained our top priority since day one. At Black Rooster, we take pride in working with only the finest quality ingredients to create authentic Peri Peri chicken dishes that are grilled to perfection whilst our customers wait. Our secret blend of herbs and spices gives our Peri Peri taste a unique and irresistible flavour that sets Black Rooster apart from the rest, and our team of experienced chefs spend countless hours refining the taste and flavour of every dish on our menu to ensure that each bite is nothing short of delicious. It’s fast food, made fresh.

We cater to all taste buds, offering a range of mild to hot and spicy options to suit everyone’s palate. Our menu includes signature wings, burgers, burritos, and quesadillas, as well as lighter options like salads and rice bowls. We even offer kids’ meals, so the whole family can indulge in our authentic Peri Peri flavour.

We’re extremely fast-moving and are always striving to adapt to the needs of our customer That’s why we’re continuously adding and developing products based on customer feedback This year we’re looking at expanding our sauce range even further to include Black Rooster’s Original Sauce - all of the Black Rooster flavour with none of the spice - for those who just can’t handle the heat!

It’s our sauce that sets us apart We don’t shy away from spice, and all of our sauces have a real kick! We’ve developed 7 delicious flavours that are uniquely ours. From extra mild to extra hot, mango & lime, lemon & herb and spicy BBQ, our range of sauces were highlighted in last year’s customer survey as the thing that keeps our customers coming back.

We recently launched our ‘Little Black Book’ - a book of Black Rooster discounts for £14.99. This was advertised purely via organic social and through our email database and saw phenomenal success, selling out over 2,000 books in just 82 minutes.

Even some of Scotland’s biggest influencers are Black Rooster fans who regularly promote the brand via gifted campaigns. In 2023 we reached over 10 million users through influencer marketing. To date we have spent less than £300 on content creator fees.

In 2022 we sponsored TRNSMT Festival, launching our Black Rooster Food Truck to 150,000 hungry music fans. We were visited on the day by some of Scotland’s best known influencers and musicians, and were the most popular food retailer at the festival.

We’re working in partnership with Rangers Football Club. We are the club’s Official Restaurant Partner and have the first ever branded food kiosk inside Ibrox stadium, selling our Peri Peri favourites to Rangers fans on match days.

We also have excellent relationships with huge brands across a variety of industries. We work in close partnership with Bee Inspired, Pure Gym and Arnold Clark, tapping into an even wider customer and fanbase.

We’re most loved amongst the Gen Z and Millennial markets, and originating in Glasgow means we have a huge Scottish fanbase who truly feel part of the Black Rooster community. We’ve tried to position ourselves as more than a QSR business, but a lifestyle brand who really listens to, and engages with, our customers. For this reason, we’ve built up a huge community of fans - including well known and high profile personalities - who are completely behind our brand’s community Our fans are loyal to the Black Rooster brand. Many have grown up with us since Day 1, and we’re acquiring new customers daily.

Our stores are bursting at the seams with customers aged 16-25, and we see huge interest online from those aged 26-40+ who choose to enjoy the their Black Rooster favourites from the comfort of their own home.

Last year, we conducted a survey of over 1,000 Black Rooster customers Here are some of our key findings:

36% of respondents visit Black Rooster at least once a week, and 60% visit at least once every 2-weeks

81% of respondents are aged under 40 88% of respondents had visited Black Rooster in the last 3 months, but only 33% had visited Nando’s and 12% had visited Pepe’s in the same time period

Respondents said that after the freshness of our food, our sauces were the reason they keep coming back to Black Rooster

Peri-peri sauce is a spicy, tangy, and flavourful sauce originating from Southern Africa and popularised by Portuguese cuisine. It’s made primarily from peri-peri chilies (also known as African bird's eye chilies), which give it its signature heat. The sauce typically includes a blend of ingredients like garlic, lemon juice, vinegar, olive oil, and spices, creating a balance of heat, tanginess, and a hint of smokiness. The exact recipe can vary, with some versions adding herbs like oregano or bay leaves, and others incorporating additional spices for complexity.

The flavour profile is bold and fiery but can be adjusted to range from mildly spicy to very hot. Peri-peri sauce is commonly used as a marinade for grilled meats, especially chicken, and as a dipping or table sauce. It’s versatile, adding a kick to dishes like chicken wings, burgers, wraps and more If you enjoy bold and spicy flavours, periperi sauce is an exciting addition to almost any meal!

We plan to sell our branded Black Rooster peri peri sauces in retail, giving our customers the opportunity to recreate their favourite Black Rooster meals at home

What sets Black Rooster’s offering apart from our competitors is our ability to help customers create a truly authentic Black Rooster experience The product is exactly the same as you’d find in our stores, and can be used in a variety of ways

Our sauces are manufactured in the UK and currently come in powdered form which we can produce in 100g pouches to sell in retail. With this product, the customer simply adds a little oil and water as instructed to create the perfect Black Rooster sauce

Customers can have the freedom to create just about anything with the Black Rooster sauces - our content creators have already been experimenting at home and so far we’ve seen Black Rooster curries, pasta, pizza, roast dinners and more!

We can even look at elevating the at-home experience further, offering our exclusive Black Rooster marinade as a pre-cooking step before topping with our sauce

All preparation and cooking instructions feature on the back of the pack, with the process for creating an authentic Black Rooster experience at home fully detailed.
