Car Free Day makes its debut in Surrey, with plenty of family-friendly fun for all ages. Car Free Day — Surrey presented by TransLink, is pleased to announce the first wave of artists playing on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from noon - 8 pm. The festival will feature two stages filled with local recording artists, dance groups, family entertainment and more.
Show, Mom Bop and more to be announced soon. Visit carfree.ca online for an updated list of events. Car Free Days is “an internationally recognized brand, enjoyed in major cities across the globe,” according to a report to Surrey city council on April 25, when the council approved a sponsorship contribution of $25,000. There’s potential for Car Free Day — Surrey to become an annual event, notes the report, which details similar events planned this summer in New Westminster, Vancouver, Port Coquitlam and North Vancouver.
This is the first annual Car Free Day— Surrey, brought to you by the Newton BIA, providing free family fun and activities for all to enjoy. The event will take over 137th Street, between 72A and 74 Avenue in Surrey, and the street will become a pedestrian paradise filled with vendors, food trucks, exhibitors and interactive elements.
Offering more than just great music and family entertainment, Car Free Day — Surrey provides an opportunity to learn more about the future of transportation in our city.
Produced by MRG Events, this year’s event will host performances by Ashleigh Ball, daysormay, Meltt, NADUH, The Jins, PEAK, Á’a:líya, Tess Anderson, DESTINEAK, City Entertainment, Vancouver Street Dance Festival, Robin Reddy
As TransLink presents Car Free Day — Surrey, you are encouraged to consider alternative transportation methods when coming to the festival. Please take transit, bike, walk, car-share, car-pool or another method of electric transportation.
