Support for Cenotaph move grows C AROLYN GR ANT Bulletin Editor
Support for the idea of moving Kimberley’s Cenotaph appears to be growing, but Council has yet to make a decision. The latest group to come forward in favour of a move is the Kimberley Heritage Society, who wrote: “The Kimberley District Heritage Society/Museum supports the suggestion of the Cenotaph being placed on the vacant lot on the corner of Spokane Street and Wallinger Avenue. It is important, now more than ever, to provide a more suitable place for the community to pay tribute to those that served, not just on Remembrance Day, but all through the year. We feel this location best serves that purpose.” See CENOTAPH, page 3
Chamber pleased with JulyFest Bocce pit move next on agenda C AROLYN GR ANT Bulletin Editor
Kimberley Chamber Manager Mike Guarnery dropped by City Council this week to update Council on JulyFest and thank the city for their support. “I especially want to thank the staff in Parks and Recreation for their help, a lot of it unsolicited,” Guarnery said. “Their attitude was so helpful, you can’t buy that in an agreement.” Guarnery also recognized the hard work of community volunteers, the Chamber Board and coordinator Jason Toner.
