supports “projects of national, regional and local significance that promote growth, job creation and productivity.” The road would include bike lanes along its length, as well as street lighting and sidewalks for the urban areas.

After all the uproar and controversy about what’s supposed to be happening with sewage treatment in the Capital Region, the public is finally getting a say. Following up on Wednesday’s open house in Colwood hosted by the Westside Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery Committee – also known as Westside Solutions – Langford will host the next town hall-style meeting next Tuesday (Jan. 20). Westside Solutions, which includes Langford, Colwood, View Royal, Esquimalt and the Songhees Nation, was formed last fall following the failure of the Seaterra program to secure a regional treatment plant site. After receiving public input, it will make recommendations to the CRD on how to move forward to achieve the government -mandated sewage treatment. Colwood had already started down the road to creating its own treatment system for current and future sewage system users. But in October the CRD’s Core Area Liquid Waste Management Committee granted all municipalities the right to develop alternative options for wastewater treatment and resource recovery.
