City of Langley firefighters pry open a car involved in a multi-vehicle crash at Fraser Highway and the Langley Bypass, which sent five people to hospital on Friday.
Five people were taken to hospital following a four-car crash in Langley City at the intersection of Fraser Highway and the Langley Bypass late Friday afternoon. Two people were trapped in the wreckage of a car and had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life. Those two teenagers were taken to Royal Columbian Hospital with what was originally thought to be serious injuries but turned out to be minor. The crash happened when the 18-year-old Langley male driver of a Ford Contour turned left off the Bypass onto Fraser Highway on a yellow light while a driver of a black VW Jetta went straight through the yellow light. Both vehicles crashed into
each other. Some witnesses indicated the Jetta was speeding but that hasn’t been confirmed. The Jetta, driven by a 21-year-old Langley man, spun from the impact of the crash, slamming into two other vehicles. He was also taken to hospital with injuries. Both drivers were issued tickets for driving through on a yellow light. The 18-year-old driver of the white Ford who had to be extricated was also issued a ticket for driving contrary to restrictions of an “N” license, and having too many passengers. He had three passengers in his car. Traffic was tied up for several hours. It appears everyone involved will recover from their injuries, said police.
Girls Fly Too! event lands at Abbotsford’s airport The entire event is free. “We’re not taking the event away from Langley, rather we needed a larger venue to support the size of the event, as well as long runways for the really cool aircraft we have planned for the static display this year,” said Brazier. The award-winning and highly successful The Sky’s No Limit – Girls Fly Too! event is moving from Langley to the Abbotsford Airport this year. Langley plane and helicopter pilot Kirsten Brazier created this outreach two-day event in 2012 to encourage more females to think of a career
in aviation and aerospace. She has brought the event to the Yukon and Langley. On March 7 and 8, more than 10,000 females of all ages are expected to gather at the Abbotsford Airport to take in free flights, hands on aerospace activities, and civilian and non-civilian pilots will be on hand with aircraft to explore.
