JESSICA PLATZ PHOTO

We may occasionally become so used to the beauty of the area we live in that we take all that natural beauty for granted. Luckily there are photographers about to remind us how lucky we are. The above photo was taken by Jessica Platz of Cranbrook at Whiteboar Glacier this past summer and is the fall winner of the Look Outside photo contest featuring the beauty of the Purcell Mountains. The photo is entitled “a life without adventure is unlikely to be satisfying”. You can find more information about the ongoing contest at wildlookoutside.com, or on the Facebook page Look Outside.

A successful first year A look back at 2014 Veterans support groups looks to continue next year FOR THE BULLETIN

Military Ames, Kimberley’s Veteran support/social group has wrapped up for 2014. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the local business’s that have stepped up to support our veterans,” said organizer Cindy Postnikoff. “We put together a December Appreciation package for the veteran’s and the

community really came through. “The group has been a real success thus far and we are hoping more veteran’s will come check us out. It’s really amazing to see the veteran brotherhood that’s developed in the few months that we’ve been meeting. We’re very excited for 2015. We’re working with different organizations to develop some special memories for our veterans.” The next meeting is January 6 at 6:30 in the reading room at the Kimberley Public Library (back door). We meet the first and third

Tuesday’s of the month. For more information call Cindy 250 919 3137. All Military Veteran’s are welcome. We’d love to see you there! MAY Kimberley continued to celebrate the life of former Councillor Bob McWhinnie with another successful McWhinnie Day at the skatepark. The family event raised $1200 for park improvements. The City of Kimberley lost a wealth of expe-

rience in one day as both Chief Corporate Administrator George Stratton and Deputy Fire Chief Jack Paterson retired. A young girl whose fight became an inspiration passed away. Jenna Homeniuk, 16, lost a long, courageous battle with leukemia. Kimberley residents supported Jenna and her family as much as they could through the past few

years. Numerous events raised thousands of dollars so her family could stay at her side. The long-awaited announcement on flume funding finally arrived. The City of Kimberley received notice that the federal and provincial governments will provide $1,034, 291 each for the Mark Creek Flume rehabilitation project. See 2014, page 2
