Birthday boy collects for Walk for Memories

2014 CCNA

On Wednesday, Nov. 19, Drydyn OjaAmes of Barriere, celebrated his sixth birthday, and instead of toys, he asked his party guests to sponsor him in the Walk for Memories, in support of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. Thanks to supporters like these kids, much needed funds help to bring us a step closer in the search for the cure for dementia. Funds raised at the Walk for Memories also help the 70,000 people in B.C. who live with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia connect to the province-wide network of information and support services provided by the Alzheimer Society of B.C. We invite you to save the date: The 2015 Walk for Memories will take place on Sunday, Jan. 25.

North Thompson Star/Journal

The Weather Network’s meteorologists have released this year’s Winter Outlook, forecasting the months of December, January and February. After most of the country experienced harsh conditions last winter, many are wondering how this year will compare. Signals of a weak El Niño developing in the Pacific Ocean point toward colder than normal temperatures across the eastern Prairies, Ontario and Quebec, while B.C. should see near or above normal temperatures. However, cold weather should not be as prolonged or quite as frigid as last winter. ...continued on page 9
