CHAMBER EVENT

Be a Kimberley Ambassador June 11; 9:30 to 3; Chateau Kimberley C AROLYN GR ANT Bulletin Editor

In this age of social media, a positive or negative reaction to an experience can be sent out to the world in a moment’s notice. A tourist having a great experience in Kimberley can Tweet it or post it to FaceBook, or just tell all his or her friends about it. But the same goes for a bad experience. Kimberley Chamber Mike Guarnery says one of the ways to provide a better guest experience is for those employees on the front lines — the till operators, front desk clerks, waiters and more — to be able to provide good information to visitors along with friendly service. “By making each visitor experience extraordinary — you have the opportunity to profoundly impact a visitor’s travel experience and our community’s bottom line. Knowledgeable, responsive, and friendly interaction can positively affect a visitor’s decision to stay longer, leave singing the praises of their terrific experience, make return visits, and share their good experiences with others — each a critical ingredient for increased and enhanced tourism,” Guarnery said. To that end the Chamber is hosting a Kimberley Ambassador Program next Wednesday, June 11 “We are offering the opportunity to learn more about Kimberley, including know where to find events, knowledge of Kimberley’s history, geography, wildlife, trails, and other summer activities,” he said. “We want to give them more awareness of what’s going on in Kimberley and where to get the right information.” Guarnery says he understands how hard it is for a small business owner to send a lot of staff but he’s hoping a business could send one or two people. The day will feature: Welcome and Virtual Kimberley Tour See CHAMBER, page 3

Selkirk’s golf team consisting of Mr. Thygesen, Russ DuToit, Julia Dereniwsky, Kole Toth, Evan Gresty, and International student Diego Oaxaca Paulsen brought home the “A” Provincial Champions banner. The team had a great second round to come from behind to win the championship with their top four players all scoring in the 70’s. Congratulations to the team on such a great accomplishment. The banner and Golden Egg provincial trophy can be seen on display in the front display case at Selkirk.
