There were a lot of people hanging around the Kimberley Conference Centre on Sunday, February 16 for the annual Winter Market. Over 60 vendors, including the Spirit Rock Climbing Centre, above, were displaying what they had to offer to big crowds. The annual market captures tourists in town for the Alberta Family Day weekend as well as locals. See more page 3.

Chance to win a 50-inch TV C AROLYN GR ANT editor@dailybulletin.ca

The Dynamiters play their last regular season home game this Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 7 p.m. and the entire Dyna-

miter organization wants to thank fans for their support and dedication this season. To express that gratitude every fan who walks into the Civic Centre on Saturday night will receive a free ticket for a draw on a 50 inch flat screen TV, generously donated by The Brick. Fans have supported the team through volunteering,

sponsorship, the annual Bullarama, the Breast Cancer Jersey campaign, the Cheer for a Year raffle, the Retro Game Night donations for the Ratcliffe family and just by attending games all season long. The Dynamiters currently stand second in the Eddie Mountain Division with the Fernie Ghostriders in third

place. On Saturday night, the Dynamiters play the rival Fernie Ghostriders, always a hardfought contest. These teams are also likely to meet in the first round of the playoffs, so Saturday’s game will be a preview to that series. Come on out Saturday night and cheer on the home team.

Every July 1 for the past several years, thousands of rubber ducks are dropped into Mark Creek for the annual Food Bank Duck Race. Each year the amount of money raised increases, with the 2013 race bringing in over $17,000. Local realtor Marilyn Jolie, who organizes the race and furnishes the cash prize, has her sights set on raisi n g $20,000 this year. T h a t m e a n s more tickets for sale and more ducks in the water. She is also upping the prize money. The event is run by volunteers and this year, Jolie is putting out the call for a little help. “We really need volunteers to help pick up ducks,” she said. That means people willing to step into the river to capture ducks as the race ends. Jolie says to make it easier on those volunteers the race committee is considering just grabbing the winning ducks at the finish line at the Civic Centre and then letting the rest of the flock proceed downstream to the skate park where the creek is wider. “We’ll keep the excitement at the arena, but it’s easier to pick the rest of the ducks out further on,” Jolie said. “But we will need people at both finish lines.” The ducks will not be put into the water if it is running too quickly. If you can assist, please call Jolie at 250427-8700.
