As plans for the massive Sapperton Green project near Braid SkyTrain station move forward, a priority is being placed on improvements to transportation links. Sapperton Green has been in the works for a few years. It is a 38-acre site at Braid Street and Brunette Avenue that abuts Hume Park and the Brunette River. Currently the property has a large warehouse while a significant portion along Braid is vacant land. It is the last site available in New West for major development, and is expected to have a mix of retail, residential and office space. Sapperton Green’s developer Bentall Kennedy held public consultations in 2011 and has been working with the city on changes. It held another open house in June, and has made some adjustments. Bentall Kennedy executive vice-president Tony Astles told council on Aug. 26 the company aims to add a traffic signal along Brunette Avenue for vehicle access to the site. please see pubLIC, A3
