Four or five across the road were blown over with a few hung up in other trees, leaning dangerously toward the road. Back in Anaconda the home of Agnes and Dom Uyede was badly damaged when cottonwoods came down on the roof and into the backyard. Agnes said as many as seven trees came down onto their property from neighboring property on the south side of the creek. Those that landed on the house did significant damage – the largest broke several rafters and was so tall that the top of the tree took out the electricity service mast at the other end of the house. Gladys Brown had another successful year at the BC Senior Games. This year she took a gold in the 2,000m walk, and three silver medals: in the 800m run, the long jump and in the triple hop (also known as the hop, skip and jump).
Brown doesn’t anticipate doing as well for the next couple of years because of the age classes she’ll be competing in. The 2015 games will be in Langley. She said her medals will be on display at the Greenwood Legion. Brown has competed in the

Senior Games every year but one since 2000. Greenwood Mayor Nipper Kettle also competed this year in men’s 55-59 cycling events. He placed 7th in the Time Trial, th 8 in the Road Race and 9th in the Hill Climb.
