s the Baby Boomer generation enters retirement age, there has been an increased demand for services for this segment of the population. Amenities such as active living communities that boast top-of-the-line features typically are the first things individuals seek. These home developments are a far cry from what they used to be and now rival some of the best resorts in their features and are designed entirely around the needs of a group of active, amenity-driven people. There are many choices with regard to active adult retirement communities from detached, singlefamily homes to villas and condominiums. Here are some of the benefits that these communities boast.

There may be a workout room, the game center, exercise classes, movie nights, and many other attractions to keep residents busy. Should residents prefer solo activities, the property on which these homes are built are often created with recreation in mind. There can be walking paths or areas for cycling. Pools and spas are often part of the living package as well.
Seniors will be picked up from their homes and assisted with shopping and returned home. Groceries can be picked up by volunteers and delivered to the home if clients cannot accompany the volunteer. Trips cannot exceed two hours.

Mission Community Services Society offers transportation services to seniors who want to go shopping or visit their bank in Mission.
There is a $5 per hour charge plus an extra $5 to $15 if you live in the outlying area of the district. Please give 48-hour notice. Five dollars per hour is given to the volunteer and receipts are issued. Waiver forms must be signed.
