Midway celebrated their 120th anniversary (1893 – 2013) with an old-fashioned picnic at James McMynn Park last Saturday. The event was organized by the Midway Community Club with support from volunteers who

stepped up to help throughout the day. The Boundary Guiding Unit provided the expertise needed to keep the hot dogs, lemonade, watermelon and cake flowing. The park was filled with games and races for the entire family, from potato sack and three-legged races to contests to see who could produce the longest potato peel or could succeed at bobbing for apples.

Magician Leif David was brought in and he moved through the park providing entertainment during the picnic and later performed a show onstage in the Community Hall. Many of the organizers were dressed in period costume, including the mayor who generously agreed to be placed in stocks while folks took aim at him with wet sponges.
