Foul play ruled out in body in Polson JENNIFER SMITH Morning Star Staff
Foul play is not suspected in the death of an unidentified man whose body was found in Polson Park Monday. The body was discovered near a gravel parking lot in the south end of the park near the Japanese Gardens at around 2 p.m. An autopsy completed Tuesday on the body determined it to be male. Initially, investigators could not even determine the age or sex of the victim. “Not at first glance,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. As of Tuesday afternoon, RCMP had few leads. “We’re still trying to identify who this individual is,” said Molendyk. The investigation has determined the body has been deceased for an indeterminable period of time. Investigators are also making inquiries and following up on reports of missing people. The case has been turned over to the coroner. All new details will be posted at www.vernonmorningstar.com as soon as they become available. Anyone with information about the body is asked to call the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Film brings Hollywood stars to Enderby It’s becoming the worst kept secret in town, but there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding a major Hollywood movie. It’s believed Disney’s Tomorrowland is being partially shot in Enderby, Grindrod and Armstrong. The science fiction film stars George Clooney and Hugh Laurie. “I know a bunch of guys are staying at Fortune’s Landing and they are coming in here for breakfast,” said Greg McCune, with Sutherland’s Bakery in Enderby. “They were building sets early and picking
stuff up at the hardware store.” There have also been reports of crew members stopping at the Riverfront Pub in Grindrod. Much of the action will apparently focus in a corn field. The publicist for Tomorrowland could not be reached for comment George Clooney and the Okanagan Film Commission is reluctant to say anything. “All I can confirm is a large movie is
being shot in the region and there will be a significant impact in the community,” said John Trainor, Okanagan Film Commission chairperson. Enderby’s business leaders have even been kept in the dark. “We have no official Hugh Laurie word of anything,” said Corinne Peard, Enderby Chamber of Commerce general manager. But even the speculation is raising the
media profile of Enderby, Armstrong and Grindrod. “We’re getting a lot of attention right now,” said Peard. McCune believes a big-budget film will have a number of long-term benefits for the community, particularly by increasing the region’s profile. “As they get the filming going, it will be really exciting,” said McCune, who is an Enderby councillor. Parts of Tomorrowland are also being filmed in Vancouver and the movie is expected to be released in December 2014.
