Quail Trail is open for travel. With a little planning, some funding and a good working partnership, safer links have been made in Lake Country between neighbourhoods, schools and parks. Quail Trail connects Clearwater/Copperhill neighbourhoods from Bonnie and Quail road ends with Lodge Road—a pathway frequently traveled by students heading to George Elliot Secondary School. Lake Country Mayor James Baker, council members and others involved in the process, gathered on Tuesday, July 16, to cut the ribbon on the Quail Trail, celebrating what an effective partnership can accomplish. Near miss for family in RV; other driver taken to hospital WADE PATERSON An Edmonton family is thanking a higher power after they escaped unscathed from a crash Thursdau afternoon that nearly sent their 28-foot

motorhome into Wood Lake. Mark Norris was driving his two children, Claudia and Jack, as well as Claudia’s boyfriend and another friend southbound on Highway

97 near Oyama Road, when a car travelling in the same direction, attempted to pass their vehicle in the righthand lane, just before the lanes merge. An RCMP officer on

the scene explained the woman driving the car lost control, went into the ditch, came back out of the ditch and collided with the recreational vehicle. Both vehicles skid-

ded eastbound across the highway, toward Wood Lake; however, a tree prevented the vehicles from entering the water. “God showed up here today, it’s an absolute miracle,” said Mark.

The female driver was taken to Kelowna General Hospital with undetermined injuries; all five passengers of the
