Marina Gardens clears final hurdle The final phase of the controversial Marina Garden Estates development passed third reading on Monday night following a narrow 4-2 vote in favour by Delta’s council, paving the way for the 10-year construction phase to begin. The final phase approved will add 674 dwelling units in the form of townhomes and apartments to the existing 619 housing units in Woodward’s Landing, Chesapeake Landing, and South Point. ❙ See story, P.3

Program takes guns off Delta streets The province’s month-long gun amnesty program in June resulted in a veritable arsenal being turned in to the Delta Police Department. In Delta alone, 57 firearms were turned in to police, along with more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition. ❙ See story, P.4

Jr. Islanders swept The Delta Islanders’ junior A lacrosse season came to an end Sunday night at Ladner Arena as the local club was swept by the Victoria Shamrocks, who took the best-ofthree playoff series two games to none.
