Highway 1 scene of multiple crashes Despite perfect driving conditions, a series of collisions crippled traffic along Highway 1 in Abbotsford early this week. On Monday, the westbound lanes were closed to traffic for more than two hours while crews tended to a crash between Mt. Lehman Road and 264 Street. The closure resulted in motorists using several detour routes. One of these, McCallum Road just north of Vye/Huntingdon Road, was the site of a five-vehicle chain-reaction rear-ender collision at about 4 p.m. The following day, Highway 1 between Mt. Lehman and 264 Street was again impacted, with two westbound crashes just after 9 a.m. One was east of the Bradner rest stop and the other was west. Traffic was still moving slowly through the area when two westbound semi trucks collided just past Clearbrook Road, closing traffic in one lane. There were no serious injuries in any of the accidents.
