Police continue to monitor conditions at Findlay Creek Falls as efforts to reach a submerged truck continue to be thwarted by fast water. A few more details around the location of the vehicle believed to belong to the two
missing men in the Findlay Creek area are emerging. The truck, driven by 21-year old Stephen Thomson of Canal Flats, B.C., and 19-year-old Nicholas Hoefnagels of Carstairs, Alta., disappeared on June 9, when the two men left their Whitetail Lake campsite in mid-afternoon. The truck was located on Sunday, June 16, and Kimberley RCMP Cpl. Chris Newel says it is wedged up against a rock C. Newel photo outcropping at the top of Find- Findlay Creek Falls, near where the submerged lay Creek Falls. truck was found.

The newly formed Downtown Business Association Advisory Committee has been working hard to enliven and promote Kimberley’s downtown. One of the issues that has always been a bit of a struggle in Kimberley is extended business hours in the evening to offer shopping to visitors who may
have been busy all day at local golf courses or other attractions. The Downtown Business Association wants to give longer store hours a try again and beginning next week, downtown stores will be staying open until 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays. In addition to the open stores, entertainment will be provided in the Platzl on the Thursday evenings. If you would like to be a part of the entertainment, musicians and other street performers are welcome to contact the Chamber office to find out how they can participate in these events.
