Two robberies in the Abbotsford area might be connected. A bank in the 32100 block of South Fraser Way was robbed just after 11:30 a.m. Saturday by a man carrying a black bag and a gun. The man walked to the teller, demanded cash, and left quickly after receiving it. He is described as Caucasian, 30 to 40 years old, 5’ 9” with a
stocky build and scruffy facial hair. The man was wearing glasses, a bright yellow baseball cap, a dark hoodie and light jeans. On Sunday, May 26, a suspect fitting a similar description, and wielding a gun, robbed a liquor store in the 1900 block of North Parallel Road. The man was captured on surveillance video in both incidents. While not confirmed 100 per cent, Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said the MO, physical
descriptions and clothing are all similar, and forensic identification unit members and major crime detectives are investigating the possible connection. “He seems to have an awareness of where the security cameras are, because he looks straight at them,” said MacDonald. Anyone with information is asked to call the Abbotsford Police at 604-859-5225, text abbypd (222973) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
