Stolen iPad fingers its own thief Brookswood bust reveals cache of stolen goods Monique TaMMinga Times Reporter
This particularly came out between Polak and Mercier in response to a question from the PIPE UP Network about the close proximity of the 60-year-old Kinder Morgan pipeline to local schools. Polak began her statement by saying that candidates need to be consistent in their positions.
A woman’s stolen 3G iPad tracked down its alleged thieves, and in the process helped bust up criminal activity going on at a rental home in Brookswood. Now two Langley teens have been charged and thousands of dollars worth of stolen items are being returned to their rightful owners. On April 4, RCMP received a call from a woman in the process of moving from Alberta to Langley. Her truck, containing much of her property, had been stolen. The truck contained her iPad which has the ‘Find my iPhone’ app. She provided police with a possible location. The officers went to a Brookswood property located in the 4800 block of 205A Street and observed a man leave the residence in a truck bearing stolen license plates from a stolen car. They followed the vehicle for a short time into Surrey with the assistance of Air One. The vehicle was stopped in the 18400 block of 76 Avenue where the occupants were arrested. Only the driver remained in custody and his three passengers were released, said police. “It turns out the vehicle belonged to our complainant and the iPad was located under the driver’s seat in the truck,” said Cpl. Holly Marks. Meanwhile, one officer had remained at the Brookswood property. Police checks indicated the two other vehicles parked in the driveway were also stolen. In that time, another man allegedly left the property in one of the stolen vehicles and was immediately arrested, said Marks. Police obtained a search warrant for the 205A Street property and residence. A total of four stolen vehicles were recovered during the investigation, the iPad, more than 15 GPS devices, two digital cameras, several mobile DVD players, various car chargers and electronics, credit cards, two laptops (returned to their owners) and numerous personal belongings of the original complainant.

Election race heating up Liberal and NDP candidates square off at Tuesday’s all-candidates debate Miranda gaThercole Times Reporter
There is a growing rivalry between Langley MLA and BC Liberal candidate Mary Polak and Langley NDP candidate Andrew Mercier, as witnessed by a packed house at the all-candidates meeting at the Langley Seniors Resource Centre on Tuesday night. Throughout the entire eve-
ning, Mercier made stabs at the current Liberal government, which Polak consistently rebutted. Hosted by the Langley Teachers Association, the meeting was attended by Polak, Mercier and Green Party candidate Wally Martin from the Langley riding. Fort-Langley Aldergrove candidates attending were independent Kevin Mitchell,
Shane Dyson of the NDP, Conservative Rick Manuel and Green Lisa David. Conservative Party leader and Langley candidate John Cummins and Fort LangleyAldergrove Liberal MLA Rich Coleman both were absent. As election day gets closer, the tension between candidates is growing, particularly in Langley, where there is a spirited contest for votes.
