MISS RODEO CANADA ENJOYS WILLIAMS LAKE INDOOR RODEO Miss Rodeo Canada, Gillian Shields (left) visited Williams Lake last weekend and took part in the festivities at the Williams Lake Indoor Rodeo; making appearances with other visiting rodeo-royalty, Williams Lake Stampede-reigning royalty and 2013 WL Stampede royalty-contestants, riding in the rodeo grand entries and helping with the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame presentations. Pictured here during a brief respite from their busy schedule are Gillian and her wee new friend and fan, Justine Billyboy (Terris` youngest sister), WL Stampede Princess Terris Billyboy and WL Stampede Queen, Alexis Forseille. As you can see, Justine was far more interested in watching the clown act going on in the arena, than posing for a picture. Liz Twan photo

Bomb threat A person responsible for a bomb threat hoax in Williams Lake Thursday has been arrested. The RCMP received a call for service of a bomb threat at the City of Williams Lake public works yard on Second Avenue North at 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 25. The RCMP and Williams Lake fire department immediately attended and cordoned the area, evacuating workers. Within the hour, workers were told they could return to work. Marijuana bust

At around midnight April 24, the RCMP executed a search warrant at a well-known drug trafficking residence on Pinchbeck Street in Williams Lake. One male resident is in custody and the RCMP will be seeking a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking. RCMP ask public to keep eyes open “The Williams Lake RCMP are committed to keeping the communities we police as safe as we can within our sphere of

control,” Insp. Warren Brown said in a press release. “We rely on the public to ensure that all criminal matters, criminal suspicion, and the knowledge of anyone who jeopardizes our safety is brought to our attention.” “Without your eyes and ears, we would be far less effective. I am appreciative of the quality and quantity of community engagement that we have here in Williams Lake and surrounding areas including our First Nations Communities. “I want to thank those people, agencies, groups, and organizations in these communities and neighbourhoods who assist us in our plight,” Brown said.
