Summer Theatre cast is filled C AROLYN GR ANT editor@dailybulletin.ca
“We got some really good people,” said Tony James, producer of this year’s Kimberley Summer Theatre season, on the audition process, which took place in Calgary and Vancouver, and right here in Kimberley. James announced last Friday that the company has been cast for the two shows Kimberley Summer Theatre will present this summer. The cast will be coming from far and wide, in-
cluding Fiona McIntyre, a Vancouver native currently pursuing a degree in Musical Theatre in New York City. “She’s coming back to Canada for this,” James said. The main cast also includes local Brent Gill from Cranbrook as well as Jeremy Verkley, Raymond Johnson-Brown, Thia Sterling and Trisha Woodley. The shows will have two venues, an adult comedy Self Help at Centre 64 in July, and The Wizard of Oz for the
whole family at McKim Theatre in August. With the Wizard of Oz comes the need for a larger cast. There are 14 junior cast members, James said. “The youngest is age seven and it goes up to about 15. Some of these kids have never done anything like this before, so it’s fun for us to say, ‘yes, come on board’. It’s a great opportunity for kids to have fun and learn, to be mentored.”

Dave Wilson is planning a bike ride from southern B.C. to Dawson City Yukon, and is hoping to be in the northern city by the summer solstice. Wilson was in Kimberley the past couple of days staying with relatives (his grandfather is Tom Blundell) and getting his bike fixed up at Kootenay Cycle Works. He was actually lucky to have a bike at all. He was camping at the top of the Salmo Creston pass last week and when he came out of the cabin in the morning, his bike was Photo courtesy Dave Wilson gone. Dave Wilson at the Salmo Creston summit.
