April is Daffodil Month for the Canadian Cancer Society and next Saturday, April 27 has been designated as Daffodil Day, to wind up the Cancer Society’s fundraising drive. Above, Patti King from the Canadian Cancer Society presents a daffodil pin to Mayor Ron McRae to help raise awareness.
Friends and co-workers of Debbie Blais, who tragically drowned in a pond at Bootleg Gap Golf Course on Sunday, are trying to come to terms with the loss of a woman who was known, and loved, throughout Kimberley. Blais, 55, was a familiar, smiling face at the Kimberley Medical Clinc, where she worked for many years. Dr. Ilona Hale worked with Blais for years and admired her greatly. “She was that amazing kind of person,” Hale said. “I’ve been thinking of how she would talk about a bad situation and always find something good. But it’s hard

The search for Kimberley’s entry to the Kootenay’s Best Singer contest is still on, but the audition night has been pushed back a few days to Tuesday, August 23, still at McKim Theatre. Three new age categories have also been added — 12 and under, 13 to 18 and 19 plus. Tickets are only $10 and all proceeds go to the Selkirk-McKim music programs. Kimberley finals are scheduled for May 9, 2013.
